Linux problems to play Amazon protected contents
-
Hallo guys.
I'm using Linux 4.15 by Sabayon (Gentoo) distribution, surface Plasma 5.12.3.
My vivaldi is of version: 1.14.1077.55.I also use Amazon prime. Now I had to reinstall my system including a new Vivaldi. With my old system installed I used Vivaldi 1.13xxx and I was able to watch Amazon Prime. Now when I start to watch a DRM content by Amazon Prime with the new Vivaldi, I just get a new window on the Amazon website which says.
"Error by playing protected content".Then I should follow some tips to solve this problem, but the tips are not for Vivaldi, they are for Google Chrome browser (of course the sent from Amazon).
Chrome is also installed and of Version 65.0.3325.181 (Official Build) (64-Bit). With this Chrome browser, I have NO problems to play Amazon Prime contents.
Pls, is there anyone who has a (simple!) solution to solve this embarrassing problem finally! to Vivaldi browsers in Linux?
Thank you in advance.A. Leconte

@lamarca said in Linux problems to play Amazon protected contents:
Hi,
For HTML5 & Proprietary Audio+Video, see here and for DRM, run this *script
Let's us know.Hallo lamarca.
Thank you for reply. I downloaded the script, made it executable, and let it run. It didn't help me, sorry to say. I still receive the same message. Of course before trying again, I close Vivaldi and restarted it then.A. Leconte

No positive result. The player's screen is ongoing black after click on 'Play' symbol...

@a-leconte are you able to play the HTML5 test, there might be with your Distro. In this case, it has to be reported.

Ok, thanks again. After I've searched here in an earlier topic, I found this:
"Download https://repo.herecura.eu/herecura/x86_64/vivaldi-snapshot-ffmpeg-codecs-59.0.3071.83-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
Extract it, & place the library in $HOME/.local/lib/vivaldi/"I went to the url and installed the actual ffmpeg-codecs, which are available, followed the instruction and now I can play HTML files including your Big Buck Bunny test videos!
And something has changed on Amazon Prime website, when I start to watch the (DRM) content. Now I receive a different message, which is:
"Your browser is missing a DRM component. Go to chrome://components and click at WidevineCdm for updates"
So, I still cannot play Amazon Prime videos. -
I used the tarball from Herecura in the past, now there is a script that support only Debian.

You are welcome.
Playing "Big Buck Bunny" means you are up to date. It must be a problem with Amazon.
Could you please give me the link to repro your issue? -

-
@a-leconte The link where you are having the DRM issue, Amazon.

The link is specific, I assume. I login with my name, choose Prime Video and then select my video (in my case "The Terror") then I click on 'Watch from beginning' and then I receive a still pic with the message and also the error number 7235 of Amazon.
How could my link help you if you are not me as member? -

That what I suspect since from the beginning. If you already check it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201811500
I have two suggestions:- write to the website telling about your problem;
- report a bug: https://help.vivaldi.com/article/reporting-a-bug-in-vivaldi/
Cheers

I got it!!!!!!
The libwidevinecdm.so file which is created by your mentioned script works fine, but stores the new created libwidevinecdm.so file into /opt/google/chrome directory.Instead it should be stored into /opt/vivaldi directory or there must be created a symlink from /opt/vivaldi to /opt/google/chrome/libwidevinecdm.so.
Maybe there's another way, but I am content now, very content. Thank you for your good support.
Greetings,
A. Leconte

Correct, the script install the file in /opt/google/chroe

It's depreciated.
As I told you:Playing "Big Buck Bunny" means you are up to date.
