@williamsongrand IMO it would be much better to watch the experts rather than scare-mongers.
-
@williamsongrand Downton Abbey is pure fantasy; not my cup of tea at all.
Disaster movies like Yellowstone are interesting as reflections on the uncertainty of life, but one should realise that it is just a movie, not something that is at all likely to happen.
Will Yellowstone Erupt in 2020?
The Corona virus is a very real and present danger. It is vital to spread well researched facts, not misinformation. Panic could do far more damage than the pandemic.
With an incompetent fool in charge of the White House, it is even more vital than ever to debunk the fake news.

Panic is already doing far more damage. When all is said and done I believe we will find they over reacted in the EXTREME.
It is better to be safe than sorry.

Panic puts people in greater danger. A common problem is that people who cannot even swim jump in to save a drowning dog or child. As a trained lifeguard I know that entering the water is the last resort.
It is OK to over-react at first, then scale-back after some time when you have better information, but do keep calm. Don’t Panic.

that's what doctors said for centuries when they used bloodletting
Last night I re-watched Tarkovsky's Ivan's Childhood
always powerful and moving, and already full of his stylistic trademarks (horses, doors ajar et cetera), but I still prefer his later works, or even his second feature - the mighty Andrei Rublev - to this.On another note I want to say that in these last few weeks I have found uneasy to watch films, to see on the screen a way of life which has been forbidden is quite painful, even in Ivan's Childhood - set during the horrors of WWII - you see humans finding relief in an embrace, in human contact, social distancing is inhuman, humanity has overcome evils way way way worse than the mostly innocuous covid19 staying together.

Well, I just posted in the Reading thread about this book that was turned into a movie.. it's called Cold Skin and the movie's available on Amazon Prime Video.
It's a story about a man lost in madness and a man lost in emptiness.. and mostly about the human nature.
Any synopsis would give too much, so I leave you the links to the movie & the book and the introduction...
"We are never very far from those we hate. For this very reason, we shall never be truly close to those we love. An appalling fact, I knew it well enough when I embarked. But some truths deserve our attention; others are best left alone..."
Albert Sánchez Piñol - COLD SKIN
PS: *ignore the ratings and give this small book the chance it deserves... *

I just watched two netflix things.
"Into the night" - a french prequel to a polish sci-fi story "The old axolotl". I had a lot of fun laughing at what was probably supposed to be an incredibly serious deconstruction of humanity.
"The wrong missy" - a rom-com which is very heavy on the com part. very funny and I would recommend it.
