Vivaldi quick fixes – Vivaldi browser Snapshot 1.15.1090.3
-
First of all thanks for the great work. Second is the very annoying error that vivaldi does not open associated applications in links. So far I understand it is a chromium bug. And this Vivaldi snapshot says its using Chrome/64.0.3282.121. So I tried some links with the actual Chrome version. This one says Version 64.0.3282.140 (Offizieller Build) (64-Bit) and had no problems. Does that mean a switch to this version will fix the problem and if so when will you switch to it?

1.15 on Linux still crashes on scrolling

@ian-coog
I tried each snapshot from 1.14.1064.3
but I still have the same issue from 1.14.1064.3.After upgrade my browser is not able to load any webpage. Not a single one.
1.14.1072.3 (Official Build) (32-bit)I revert back 1.14.1064.3 again. It works fine.
Environment: Windows 7
AntiVirus: Microsoft Endpoint ProtectionI can not disable AntiVirus software.

@melito Too bad you can't turn off or remove antivirus to narrow things down. For my part, last night I caught Windows blocking aspects of Vivaldi after recent updates even though I have previously told it not to. I had to tell it again. I don't use endpoint security. Are you able to whitelist apps in its settings?

Since the 1.14 snapshots I've been seeing a substantially higher number of dead bird pages. In the past I rarely had one, but now run into 4-5 a day from some basic sites like Google Docs. Any suggestions or is this a known issue? (PS - Would still love to see a public bug tracker so we can search and upvote bugs without requiring a member of the V team to do the lookup)

@rsaeks Try refreshing your profile. I have multiple copies of Vivaldi (both stable and snapshot) installed on multiple machines, both 64-bit and 32-bit, and I never see dead bird pages. This indicates to me your usage patterns might have done something to your profile that's causing something I don't see. Our other testers don't see it either, so I'm suspecting it's curable with a clean profile. The only other thing I could think of offhand might be an incompatible graphics driver. There are so many of them now, they can't all be tested.

@rsaeks this might be outdated advice, but can you see anything related to your problem if you enter
chrome://crashes
into the address bar? -

Huh? Not for me, ever. More details pls?

Internal testers can you inform if the bug that does not open magnet links etc is fixed in the next snapshot?
I'm having to open another browser just to perform this task when I need it, I know this bug is not a Vivaldi problem.
I think the question may seem pretty useless lol, but it's pretty annoying to open another browser just to do such an action. -
