Show password not working
-
I'm trying to access a password I can't remember and I am unable to access the password because of this window:
I tried logging into my Windows password and it only responds like this:
I have confirmed my Windows account and I am inputting the correct username and password. Why is it not accepting my login?
-
@jxzero I can't remember why this happens. You're not the first to report it, but I never suffered it, and so I haven't memorized a solution. Do you have separate admin and user profiles - and if so, which profile do you use Vivaldi from?
-
@ayespy Yes, I have found some of the others now. I guess I jumped too fast into posting my issue.
If you mean Windows profiles, I've only this login and it's admin, of course. I've also tried with "More options" > "PIN" and it still will not accept that login.
-
@jxzero Well, I hope someone who knows this issue happens along. I wish I could help, but I'm afraid I don't have the necessary info.
-
Have you tried my suggestion from one of the other threads ?

Thanks, I'm hoping for the same.

https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/183803@dantesoft I saw it, thanks, but I skipped it because it's an external tool. Is it a good idea to use tools like that for your passwords?
-
Just out of curiosity, do you have a "linked" or "local" account?
In Win10 if your account is linked with an online @live.com or @outlook.com address, you might need to use those credentials instead. -

You’re of course right not to trust it based on a recommendation.
Maybe running it in an offline VM that you destroy afterwards? There was also the option of the bookmarklet, which you can check for yourself that it doesn’t do anything remotely suspicious.
PS: A third option has just occurred to me: go to the login page, open the Developer Tools (
F12
) to theirNetwork
tab (havePreserve log
andDisable cache
ticked, to make sure that you can see all the traffic), then submit the login form; the request (usually aPOST
of typedocument
) will be logged in theNetwork
messages list, and clicking on it will show the password in plain-text in itsHeaders
>Form Data

@lonm I've got a linked account with @live.com and that's what I've been trying to use.
