LastPass No Longer Working with Vivaldi
-
I've been having a ton of problems with LastPass for the last couple of months and I thought it was Last Pass's fault - so I contacted their support and they said, 'no, it's your browser.'
I didn't believe them because it has worked fine with Vivaldi recently, but I started opening my other browsers and found out LastPass was right! It's still working perfectly in Chrome, Firefox even Microsoft Edge!
The problem is that in Vivaldi, LastPass no longer fills in the username and password on most web pages. Not all, but most. I have to actually manually copy & paste login credentials from LastPass - and it's a HUGE pain. It has even forced me to stop using Vivaldi until it can be fixed.
Has anyone else noticed this problem?
What usually happens when you go to a page where it's not working - it won't fill anything out. You have to click on the LastPass icon in the toolbar and select "Show Matching Sites" and then you have to actually copy the username and then go back and do it again to copy the password.
If you select Auto Fill - it won't fill out anything.
Then, go to this same site in a different browser and it will work perfectly.

Hi, you can check a user agent switcher extension or developer tools > Network > Network Condition, switch off "Automatic" and change to Chrome or something. If this work it is not LastPass not Vivaldi it is a dump webserver configuration.Cheers, mib

So, in case anyone else has this problem... here's what I did - and I appreciate the advice from everyone here.
I uninstalled Vivaldi, copied my entire user data folder first though. Then, I reinstalled it. I tested it from a fresh install and LastPass worked perfectly as it should!
So, then I decided to copy my entire original userdata/default folder back into the mix.
When I did that, LastPass stopped working. So, I removed all that and re-created the default folder again (by closing Vivaldi, deleting all the files in the default folder and re-opening Vivaldi).
Then, I began copying back a few things that I really had to have. Like my bookmarks and start page setup (which I think comes with bookmarks). I also copied current session data, History, Top Sites, etc. - things like that.
When I opened Vivaldi again everything was there as it should be except for the extensions I had originally had installed and keyboard shortcuts I had customized, as well as the appearance. So, it was pretty easy to fix the last two, now I have to install the extensions.
But, LastPass did work fine with this method.
So, it's something in the default folder. No idea what. And I wouldn't bother trying to figure it out as there is more than a gigabyte of data in there!
Anyway, if you copy just the bare bones necessities from there back into your new install, it should get LastPass working again.

I am still having this exact same issue (yes, 7 months later) that you are having with LastPass. Here is a faster "quick fix / workaround" to get LastPass functioning once again.
-
Close down your Vivaldi browser completely, check task manager to ensure there is no lingering background Vivaldi tasks running (I have found that occasionally my Vivaldi keeps some extensions or other background processes running and doesn't correctly shut down)
-
Go to your User Data directory for Vivaldi
C:\Users<UserName>\AppData\Local\Vivaldi\User Data\Default\databases -
You will see a folder named:
chrome-extension_hdokiejnpimakedhajhdlcegeplioahd_0
This is your local LastPass Datbase/config/preferences folder (there should be only a single file inside it named
1
)-
You can just delete this entire folder, or rename it to something like
chrome-extension_hdokiejnpimakedhajhdlcegeplioahd_0-BACKUP -
Restart Vivaldi and LastPass should be functional again, how ever it will have reset/erased all your LastPass preferences, you will need to reconfigure those.
Hope this helps some of you!
