Regression? Vivaldi hang & then unable to fully restore last session on startup
-
Have similar problem 2 months ago, discussed on this thread: https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/168612 (thread is currently locked!)
It happened again yesterday, while i'm browsing with vivaldi & suddenly it hang & become unresponsive. After i forced shutdown & restart Vivaldi it can't load all the tab in all windows completely, just hang on startup while loading some tabs.
This problem can be fix by disable all extensions (--disable-extensions). But im sure Vivaldi is intended to be use with extensions, and of course Google Chrome store is the culprit that fxxk-up Vivaldi again...
Vivaldi developers, please find a permanent solution to fix this "bug" instead of only patching it when Google decided to broke your precious browser again.
Also, if possible please implant multiple session backup ASAP. I'm really sick of losing session without any back-up when unpleasant event such as this keep happening.
Thank you.
PS: if someone affected by this, please state extensions you have installed, cuz we need to find out which extension Google have blacklisted that causing this problem. Thanks.

The extensions in the Chrome Store are each made by different developers who update them independently whenever they choose. Consequently, if there were 100 extensions in the Store, there are 100 potential sources for conflicts with Vivaldi if all the extensions were installed. Moreover, there would be 100 potential independent auto-updates of those installed extensions occurring at unpredictable times, any one of which could suddenly impact Vivaldi for some particular web page. Consequently, there can logically be no "permanent" fix for possible present/future extension conflicts given the myriad extensions that exist in the Store.
Your suggestion for adding multiple session backup might provide some help in getting back to a browser state prior to loading a page that caused an extension conflict with Vivaldi, but it would not resolve the extension problem itself.
As @Gwen-Dragon noted, you need to establish which of your extensions is/are specifically related to your problem, since you've already indicated it must involve at least one of them.

Hi guys. I use the previous thread method to resolve the problem, deleted secure preferences, reinstalled all extension, deleted last/current sessions & restart with new session. I done all these before i open this thread & before you guys replied, so i'm not looking for help or solution. But to give a head up to those who are affected, & hopefully Vivaldi developer will read & pass this problem to people on higher up to prioritize improving session backup function (i have requested this over a year now, & have lost too many session because of this missing feature).

You get it right, it's not Vivaldi fault that GOOGLE causing the problem. Nothing Vivaldi can really do to prevent GOOGLE from bricking other chromium browser from time to time. This feel like a time bomb that will screw me over at anytime when using Vivaldi, this is killing my confidence on this browser every time when it happen. Even if it's not Vivaldi's fault.
That's why Vivaldi need a working safety net to protect user from losing valuable data. It's not about who's fault, it's about what Vivaldi can do to protect it's user's experience from GOOGLE's meddling finger.

If Air bags & seat belts won't stop car accident, then why every car have 'em? Answer: to save life & reduce damage to victims when the inevitable accident happen! It's never intended to stop the crash, but to minimize lost after the crash.
The current session backup system is flawed & can't serve it's purpose - backup good session for session restoration when disaster strike. It need to backup at least last 3 sessions, so that we can fall back to earlier session when newest session is corrupted. Now though, you r fxcked every time when something goes wrong, even after the problem get fixed.
Thanks for your attention & time for the discussion.
