Full page screenshot not working
-
The full page screenshot isn't working anymore. Only the browser window is saved. A few weeks ago everything went fine. Any suggestions?
-
Not confirmed. For me it works.

I have never used the Vivaldi capture function, basically not much more functional than pressing PrntScr. I have always used ShareX for this function, independent of the browser.
But yes, it only uses Vivaldi's, it is obviously a bug that has to be reported -

That's what it is supposed to do, capture the browser window. If you want to capture the entire screen, use PrintScrn or maximise the browser.
If you want more than a basic screen capture use a third-party utility like FastStone Capture.
-
@fd2003 Only the browser window has ever been saved. It works within the browser to capture the content of the window, as it has always done, and that is all it will ever be able to do. It's not a system window capture. It's a browser window capture.
-
@asires same here, captured a page and the resulting png is 1500x13000 pixels, whole page

not true, prtscr captures to clipboard only what's on screen, vivaldi dumps the entire page to file or clipboard even if multiple times larger than screen
-
@ian-coog This is true. It captures the whole scrollable area up to, if I recall, 20,000 lines. But it does capture only content within the browser window - not portions of the UI or of other elements of the desktop display.

No, PrntScr can also be used in combination with the Alt key, apart from Windows it also incorporates a utility (in Spanish Recortes).
But some desktop utility is always better for this, like the mentioned ShareX, which can also capture not only the screen, or part of it in an image, but also record in GIF or video format, has an OCR incorporated for text capture , it has editing tools and you can even upload the screenshots to the corresponding hosts (configurable) to share them.
The FastStone, which Pesala mentions, is also very good, although not as complete.
A grabber as an app in the browser is always limited, since you can only make captures inside the browser, while a desktop app is worth anything on screen, with or without a browser. -
@catweazle I was correcting your statement "the Vivaldi capture function, basically not much more functional than pressing PrntScr." which is false, other tools do other functions, we're agreeing on that, but PrintScreen key in windows alone is NOT comparable to Vivaldi capture page. I hope it's more clear now.

Ok, although the PrntScr key is not comparable, the tool that Windows brings by default is.
It is good that Vivaldi includes this function, but it is still a fairly basic utility, which in many cases may be insufficient, where it is necessary to edit the capture or make some highlights or annotations. -
Ok, I figured out that it has to do something with special websites like aspx. So it's a bug.

@gwen-dragon Done.

is there any update on the VB-35109 ?
Mod Edit: Reposted already in the bug status thread
