FTR I have opened this VB-34357 ticket:

      Steps to reproduce

      CTRL+F (find in page).
      Search ' (U+0027) OR ’ (U+2019)
Check or not check EXACT MATCH ONLY (or respect CASE, don’t know the English menu, I’m French)

      Expected behaviour

Find only ' OR ’ (depending on your search)

      Actual behaviour

      Finds BOTH ' (U+0027) AND ’ (U+2019)

Maybe for Chrome it’s not a bug.
Maybe they want it like that.

But can Vivaldi branch be customised?

@jesus2099 With enough resources, yes - if Vivaldi were a "branch," which it's not really. It's an overlay of Chromium. To maintain an actual branch of the Chromium code - that is extensively modifying and patching every single new version of Chromium that comes out, and then testing it to ensure it's sound, would require several full-time personnel, just for that part of the operation. Vivaldi has too small a team to do that and, even so, is spending more on the personnel they DO have, than the income generated by the browser.

There are a few standard Vivaldi patches that get applied to each new Chromium version, and even these cause some regressions and lost time to fix today what was working yesterday. To maintain an actual branch would pretty much be more than Vivaldi could sustain.

It can be fixed, if Vivaldi will make their own page search engine (with regexp, multitab, multiword, ajax dynamic modifiable pages support etc), and stop using integrated chromium search engine. There's already some feature requests about new search functionality.
