Crashing on OS 10.6.8
-
Looks like Vivaldi has great potential, however, at this early stage, while running on Mac OS 10.6.8, it crashes whenever trying to access a site that requires me to log in -- i.e. gmail, facebook, chat forums, or even this support forum -- while any other sites load fine. So far, I'm reluctant to update my OS, so hopefully this glitch can be worked out soon, as I'd like to keep using it.

"Great potential"?
Yeah, as soon as that highly complex login thing is mastered, then all hopes of "great potential" goes through the roof!
I can't wait.
I mean I LITERALLY can't wait. As in, I can't waste time waiting for Vivaldi to actually perform a simple log-in function.
What an embarrassing launch. It would have been better to delay the launch, than to debut as a laughingstock. This not-ready-for-prime-time browser gets dragged into the trash in 3,2,1…....

Thanks for your completely unhelpful, insulting and derogatory commentary, which literally added no value to the community. Please don't comment any more. We'll take it from here.

Oops. Was it something I said?? :o
The truth, perhaps
OUT -
Your idea of "truth" evinces a complete ignorance of the development process, and pretends that your experience is a) universal and b) fatal to the prospects of the browser, neither of which have any basis in fact. So, no, "truth" is not at issue here. Only opinion, intent and attitude.

And so's ya know, Snow Leopard is no longer supported by its own authors (Apple) which means it is no longer supported by Blink, and anyone writing a browser depending on the Blink engine would essentially have to be insane to try to make their browser backwards-compatible with an OS that is no longer supported, and which their engine is not built to take into account. The sheer number of hours spent writing code to support an obsolete OS would be prohibitive.
The user has the option to upgrade OS but chooses not to do so. So, this makes Vivaldi "bad," apparently, for failing to endorse his position of "I'm reluctant to update my (obsolete) OS." You want Vivaldi to spend resources on people who will not spend their own resources to be somewhat current. I'm afraid they can't afford that.
