Am I doing something wrong?

Hello all, I just learned about Vivaldi yesterday from a friend and have been mostly impressed thus far. There's only three things preventing me from switching over to Vivaldi (even though it's still only in beta stages). No Netflix, slow as balls, and does not cooperate well with a touchpad. First, the Netflix thing. I know there's nothing they can do about it. Basically have to wait for Netflix to add support for Vivaldi instead of saying "use an official version of Chrome." Next, the "slow as balls" part. This is the part where I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. Everything is horrendously slow. Opening Vivaldi takes nearly three times longer than Chrome. Loading simple web pages, switching tabs, everything is consistently nearly 2x-3x slower than performing the same actions on Chrome. Sure, this laptop I'm stuck with for the moment is total trash, but Chrome is one resource hungry browser and this laptop is having no problem with it. I'd like to think I'm just doing something wrong, but if that's just the current state of the browser, that's fine, I can wait a little longer for it to get better. Lastly, Vivaldi does not work well with a touchpad at all. Dear lord. Scrolling is a nightmare. I have to scroll down the touchpad 7+ times to make any progress in scrolling down a page. Browser is in early stages though, so I'm sure it'll get worked out later. I'm usually using a mouse anyway so it's not too big of a deal. EDIT: A little more info. Specs OS: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit CPU: i3-2350M GPU: HD Graphics 3000 RAM: 4GB DDR3 Storage: 300GB Intel SSD Vivaldi versions with issues (32-bit and 64-bit for all): Technical Preview 2, 1.0.118.2, 1.0.123.10, 1.0.118.19

I gather you don't have one of those touchpads that supports … hmm, I suppose I'll call it winding? On the touchpads that came with a couple of my XP and Win 7 laptops, scrolling was mostly accomplished by moving the finger up or down along the right (or bottom, to scroll left/right) edge of the pad. However, if you needed to scroll farther you could drag you finger around in circles after starting the scroll, and it would continue scrolling in the same direction. Not sure if the more recent laptops still support it.
Slow ... could your internet security/privacy software be slowing it down? Some will delay connections by "unknown software" while they check what it is connecting to, and they probably don't recognize Vivaldi yet. Check to see if whatever software you're using has settings for different programs - if so, tell it to allow Vivaldi to connect normally. (I remember having that problem in the early days of Opera ... I don't use that software any more.)

Never heard of that. :o But no, my laptop/touchpad does not have that function it seems.

And unless Windows Defender is that advanced it shouldn't be an issue. And it's not just webpages loading slowly or anything, it's everything about the browser that is just horrendously slow.

But when are the features and settings like start page and "stealth mode" or incognito mode going to be available for Vivaldi browser?

They're working on it. They can't predict just when it will be done.

Try installing the SmoothScroll extension - there you can set the scroll speed.
