OS X: Portable version for using on USB stick?
-
Hello,
is it possible to "install" a portable version of Vivaldi for Mac using it on a USB stick instead of the application menu?
Thanks!

If you run the installer, go to the advanced install options, and instead of installing to system / user, select install as standalone, and then select the appropriate drive.
(Unfortunately I use windows, so I don't know if the mac installer works the same)

@webaschtl Unfortunately, no. One of Vivaldi's technical gurus developed a "Standalone" launcher for macOS users that gets you ~90% there but it only isolates the
user-data-dir
information, so it only really enables you to have multiple parallel installations of Vivaldi on the local machine for testing purposes, not a truly portable installation that's totally self-contained. -

not a truly portable installation that's totally self-contained.
Even more, because of extensions & passwords being encrypted to O.S./User Vivaldi is not portable anyway.

@lonm I am a Win user, too, but was working on a "foreign" Mac in the guest account. Therefore this question to have an version on a USB stick and for not searching my different passwords again and again

Thanks, you two, too!
That would be a great feature – saving passwords in such a portable version, too. Hmm ...
