Free Download Manager full integration with Vivaldi?
-
Have been using FDM for very long time with Vivaldi + FDM extension, but unable to "Left-click on download link" to send download to FDM directly like in other browser. I have to use the right-click menu "Download with FDM" to do so with Vivaldi.
However, some webpage download link/button doesn't work with context menu, so it's not possible to use FDM on those website. I would like to know if this the normal experience with you all, or it's just me?
Do u know anyway to setup FDM to capture Vivaldi download directly?

I never use Chrome, is this a Chromium browser problem or it's just Vivaldi?

Done. hope got resolved soon...

UPDATE: Bad news it seems FDM team are not going to do much about the situation...
Here is the respond i got after follow up with the ticket:
Dear User!
At the moment we do not officially support this browser. Therefore, for now, only through the context menu. -
Wanted to add a me-too for this feature.
FDM is a very useful download manager.
The left click works with Chrome and sends the download directly to FDM.
Any update to Vivaldi to make this work would be most welcome. Thanks. -
@padu Vote for a better download manager built-in to Vivaldi. Extensions should be a last resort for features that most users don't need. Download management is, I guess, important to most users though I don't download stuff often enough for it to be an issue for me personally.

@pesala Thanks for suggestion. Agree that the built in DLM can improve with multiple connections and better viewing. Will be valuable when some links don't worr well with external DLMs.
But the full functionality of a single purpose DLM like FDM, which I have been using for years, is extensive and will be a big load on the browser and bloat it. No bloat is one of the key reasons for my effort to prefer Vivaldi and slowly stop using Firefox.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this topic. This is one of the reasons V is not a primary browser. Even the minimalist type of download manager from Opera12 would be acceptable, especially the option to scan a file from the manager (and Torrents are handy for my Linux downloads).
I still use O12 for downloads and as an e-mail client. -

Well, that is what is suggested should be built-in to Vivaldi, so I don't know what you're talking about.

In O12.xx if I download a file I can right and have the downloaded file and send it directly to my registered Anti-Virus to have it scanned.. Not (yet) possible with Vivaldi. With V I need to open it in file manger then have it scanned Also V has no provision (yet) for Torrent downloads.

Has thisn been solved?

- General bug fixes.

Regarding the scan with the AV, yesterday when downloading a file, the download was interrupted by Windows Defender because a suspicious ad. That is, at least in Windows10, the integration of a separate AV in Vivaldi is not so urgent, why does it show that at least Defender scans downloads.
In any case, it is always recommended to scan the downloaded files, before any use, with or without additional AV in the Download Manager. -
@Catweazle Scanning downloads for malicious content is not the job of a browser. Your OS or a third-party AV should be doing that.
A Download Manager is one of the most popular feature requests, and Support for MIME types, which gives users control over what to do with downloads, has even more votes.

@Pesala , true, but not all AVs scan downloads and act only when trying to use the download. For this reason, although an AV is not necessary in the Download Manager, it is also good to have it as an additional filter in case that the own AV don't scan the download (UR browser has a Download Manager with AV). It is always better to avoid a download directly, than to do it and have to delete it afterwards, especially if it is a voluminous download.
