Menu bar disappeared, how to get it back?
-
I can't toggle the menu bar with Ctrl+M. Going into preferences and switching between vivaldi button and horizontal menu does nothing.
Also, it can be related that I can't display the tab bar at the top. It shows at the bottom, but when I choose top position then it disappears.
So it looks like there is some black hole at the top of the vivaldi window which swallows the menu bar and the top bar, because they are not displayed at tall. The address bar is visible.
How can I get the menu bar back?

@dernal Does this also happen when you use vivaldi in window mode or only when vivaldi is maximised?
-
@zaibon Normally I don't maximize Vivaldi windows, so it is not maximized.

This sounds a bit like something in your profile is broken. Does it resolve the issue for you when you refresh your profile?
Don't worry you can copy your old profile back later on or in case that a new profile fixes this issue you can copy back parts of your old profile until vivaldi breaks again so you'll know what the cause of this problem is.You can find an instruction how to refresh your profile and backup your data here: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/10388/refreshing-or-cleaning-your-profile

@zaibon Thanks, seems like it was something in Local App Settings. When I didn't copy that back then the menu bar and the top tab bar started working properly.

Well, this bug just roared at me yesterday, and while I was able to get my tab bar back by clicking "Show tab bar" in settings and Bookmarks bar by clicking that in settings, the bar with link and search including back/home buttons are nowhere to be found.
The "fix" to start with a fresh profile doesn't get me excited as it should, as I've got a lot of settings I'd rather not go through again. Did try it though, and it's not a question of extensions messing up the profile (btw. I only use Disable HTML5 Autoplay, Downloads, Type-ahead-find, and uBlock Origin).A known bug that should've been fixed a year ago seems to be available again in the snapshots?
https://www.reddit.com/r/vivaldibrowser/comments/6gwces/broke_my_vivaldi_several_ui_components_missing/Yes, I'm running the latest snapshot, not the stable one.

@ungern It sounds to me that you accidentally enabled the Chromeless UI (Ctrl F11)
-
@pesala It sounds to me that you're correct! Thanks for helping this idiot out, no clue how I managed to do that. Amazing, how searching on the internet doesn't point to this. Just learned a new thing then. Thanks again!
