Feature request: multiple search bars & different default search engine for address bar
-
1. Make it so that the default search engines of the address bar and the search bar are set independently. Otherwise the search bar is superfluous. 2. Allow multiple search bars, with different default search engines. Ideally, my personal set-up would be Google for the address bar and Wikipedia and Wiktionary for the two search bars. I have so far always been disappointed by User Interfaces that are called 'customisable' but which don't even allow such an elementary modification.

+1 This is a good idea: it would be nice to be able to choose the engine for the address bar.
I wouldn't say the search box is superfluous though since we can change engines within it. -
…it would be nice to be able to choose the engine for the address bar.
But you can. Setting default engine sets it both in the address bar and the search bar. You just can't set them separately.

Right. I'd just like to be able to set them independently (I think that was the OPs meaning). Sorry for not being clear.

As a matter of fact, I am a Firefox user, and quite satisfied, bar some lacking features like tab stacking and multiple search bars. I was quite irritated when Mozilla disabled separate default search engines, but fortunately, someone wrote a hack that re-enabled it.

That would certainly work for me
