Looking for text-to-speech extension

I'd like to get a text to speech extension that works. Perhaps the problem is that I'm in Linux, not sure, but Selection Reader has no output. I do know the system will read, as Orca reads GUI frame elements. But I'm looking to read actual web pages.

I'd also like to get speech-to-text working, but even trying to use the VoiceIn extension crashes V.

I'm in the latest stable V.

Absolutely awesome. That is the best reader I've ever heard. I'm using the Amazon British English (Emma) voice, and it is so believable.
