How to migrate notes from opera 12 to vivaldi?
-
I'm trying to get all my notes and bookmarks from opera 12 to vivaldi, im using vivaldi 32 bit for ubuntu latest Snapshot 1.0.111.2 import data (menu) is not working for me, select "from opera" then check bookmarks, notes, passwds. then click import and nothing happens, data is not imported and no any messages at all. is there a way to do this manually?

First, you have to ensure that Opera is installed in the default directory.
-
is not, in my case vivldi it's on .config folder, and .opera is on home folder…
any tips on how to have both on same directory?
-
It's not practical to have both in the same directory. They do not handle profile functions the same way.
And to be fair, I don't even know for sure where the normal folders for program and profile are SUPPOSED to be for classic Opera in Linux, because I'm new enough to Linux myself that I have not familiarized myself with its file structure. I just know that Vivaldi knows where Opera is "supposed" to be, and looks for the data to import in that location only.
NOW - if you tell it to import from "Opera Bookmarks Folder," you can at least navigate to the folder and get the bookmarks. Don't know about the rest of the items.

I most certainly know … and import doesn't work yet.
Default folder for Presto is ~/.opera (a hidden folder). But I try import with each new version. and it doesn't work.

Not working for me either in 1.0.111.2-1 32 bit. I made a copy of notes.adr (Opera 12.16), renamed it Notes.ini, that appears to be the file association it's looking for and moved it to Documents. No joy.
Edit: I unchecked "Default" location and tried to import from Documents (Ubuntu 14.04.2).

Theoretically, it is looking for operaprefs.ini which would include paths to all your other setup files. It does work in Windows, though takes a little time.

Hi export bookmarks from Opera as xyz.adr file and import it.
Work fine but folder/marks are not in alphabetic order.Cheers, mib

Has there been any progress in exporting/importing 'Notes', specifically to Vivaldi - Linux?

I most certainly know … and import doesn't work yet.
Default folder for Presto is ~/.opera (a hidden folder). But I try import with each new version. and it doesn't work.
This is a good reminder that we need to push on getting the remaining import issues resolved. With all import functionality it is assumed that the browser imported from is in it's default location and that the Vivaldi install is also. On Linux that is ~/.opera for Opera and ~/.config/vivaldi for, yes you guessed it, Vivaldi.

JUST AN UPDATE:
I came to this page on the sames question and it did not sound so good firsthand.
But I found then in my version (1.2.490) a menu item
'Import Bookmarks and Settings"
in the files menu.Tried it and it worked like a charm.
The most important thing is to locate the proper notes location.
The file is called
Notes.adr
and it's located in the old Opera directory (which is trickiest thing to find when you - like me - have installed several versions.)
Usually you should find the file at
C:\Documents and Settings<your account="">\AppData\Roaming\Opera\Opera12</your>With the import a new folder
Imported from Opera
will be created in the notes where all your 'old' (and beloved) notes are stored.
From there you can move an reorganize them. -
@tomas.lizner:
Thanks, I will try. And one more thing - is there any way to "copy to note" from adress bar. I really miss this form old opera. I wonder whis is this feature in missing in Vivaldi if there already is copy to note feature…
They may have figured it was unlikely to see as much use in that context, or it may have just been an overlooked.
Btw: If you want to quickly save the current page's URL to a note, copying any regular page text via the context menu's "Add selection as new note" also saves the current page's URL. However, (in addition to that being saved not to the note's body text, but to the note's Address field) I realize that that may not necessarily always the same text fragment you're looking to manually type or sub-select from the address bar.
(Hmm, just now, Vivaldi was actually saving two identical notes for each time I clicked "Add selection as new note" – I've reported the double-saving to the bug submission page.)
