How to export all the settings and tabs?
-
Hi.
I will have to format my drive, so the question is how to:- Export all the saved thumbnails from the start page - including settings, bookmarks and the whole tree of folders
- Export my sessions - and where do i find them?
- Export all my login data with sites and paswords
- Export other settings, like extensions etc.
Thanks

The biggest part of your settings and data is stored in your "Default" folder.
To find out where said folder is placed in your system go tovivaldi://about
there is a line that starts with "Profile" (it should look like thisC:\Users\`[username based location]\Vivaldi 3\User Data\Default
)Copy this path --> close vivaldi --> open this path in your explorer --> copy the whole "Default" folder to a save place (in your case usb stick, portable hdd, cloud, whatever)
Please note:
- This should copy all settings but there were a complains lately that one or two settings weren't copied (can't remember which one).
- I am not sure if all extension based settings are copied ( I use too few extensions to say this for sure)
Here is a list from this vivaldi help site what data is based in your default folder.
The following explains some key information stored under the Default folder:
Bookmarks: This contains bookmarks and Speed Dials information.
Notes: This contains notes information.
Sessions: This contains saved tabs sessions.
Login Data: This contains website passwords. Note: This file is encrypted and is only usable on the machine that created it.
Preferences and Local App Settings\mpognobbkildjkofajifpdfhcoklimli: This contains Vivaldi settings and configurations.
Web Data: This contains autofill data.
Current Session: This contains data on open tabs.
Top Sites: This contains thumbnails.
History: This contains website history.
Cookies: Website data.
Extension Rules, Extension State, Extensions, Local Extension Settings, Local Storage, Managed Extension Storage, >Extension Cookies and Secure Preferences: All extension preferences and extension data are stored here.

I am not sure if all extension based settings are copied ( I use too few extensions to say this for sure)Passwords and Extensions are tied to the UUID on your computer.
So if you are exporting for import to the same user on the same computer (an actual backup) then it will work.
However, on a different computer (or user ID) then passwords and extensions will have to be redone. -
