No focus on address bar after pushing home button
-
Address bar doesn't have any focus after pushing the home button. I should be able to type directly after pushing the home button instead of activating the address bar with my mouse click.
-
Focus on address bar would only make sense if you have set your homepage to startpage.
-
It is set to start page.
-
What's your new tab page set to?
I think you know what I'm getting at. Address bar will only have focus when you have set startpage as new tab page. It doesn't even have focus if you go back to it with the "go to previous page/back" button. I think it's intended.Overall I believe the chrome/opera way of changing the homepage to a speed dial button is redundant design. You already get that when you make a new tab. Try and set your home page to something different, you might be surprised how useful it is.

New tab is already set to start page, I always use the latest beta build.
-
check if you have Tabs/Tab Handling/Focus Page Content on New Tab
EDIT: nevermind, I should have tried myself, alt-home doesn't get focus on address bar anyway -
@iAN-CooG This only controls the focus of a new tab, not the home button. As said, I think the design is intended, but saudiqbal's observation is correct. It could be argued that startpage should always have the focus on the address bar, no matter how it is being accessed (bookmark, new tab, homepage). This would probably be a feature request.

Looks like a bug to me!

@saudiqbal When the user is allowed to set the home page there is no way to tell what the desired focus should be.
I use a home made home page, which is simply a series of drop lists each with a dozen or so links. There is no advantage for me setting the focus to the URL field. If I want to go to a particular URL that is not among those on my home page, then I won't open the home page, I will simply enter it in the Quick Commands dialogue, or I will type it in the URL of the current tab.
Some users might use Google as their home page, in which case they will want the focus in the search field, not in the URL.
It is clearly not a bug.
I already made a feature request to allow users to concatenate commands, then one could have a shortcut for: Go to homepage & Focus address field (as one can do easily in Opera 12.17)

Try the same thing in Chrome, open a page and click the home button, the cursor will be blinking and I can start typing immediately. I personally think the focus should be on the address bar after pushing the home button.
When a user is allowed to set the home page, the focus should be on the page obviously, but if a user is setting the home button to start page then the focus should be on the address bar.
-
@saudiqbal Try setting Google.com as your home page (or any search engine).
The cursor is quite rightly focused in the search field. Anything else would be wrong.
Others may want the URL to have focus, or something else. There is no "one size fits all for this."

@dLeon said in No focus on address bar after pushing home button:
@Pesala
@saudiqbal mean if Startup > Homepage setting set to Start Page originally vivaldi://startpage.As far I can tell, the focus not land anywhere. Not in Address Bar, Speed Dial, extension icons, nor any panel items.
To achieve @saudiqbal want, I need to press TAB 3 times or Ctrl+L, or use mouse click on address bar.Its not startup, just regular browsing, after I m done with a page I push the home button and wanted to type directly into the address bar without activating first with the mouse.
