Feature Requests for old Vivaldi.net (Not for the browser)
-
Please consider:
- make your site FASTER to respond
- add easily accessible Local Search field for search within a single forum topic, and search within a forum section
- present global forum search results sorted by topic and forum section
- for old My Opera portal members, import their status & show historical number of posts in My Opera portal separately here in each post User Info field instead of showing guys like Pisala with New Member status. That would show fans dedication: how many Opera 12 fans by now are contributing & testing Vivaldi, and how many new users are getting attracted to it.

We know that our forums aren't optimal as far as features go… We are of course trying to improve in that regard.
Some quick fixes would confirm your intent:
- replace "Unordered List" with "Dotted List" in Edit Post menu, since Unordered List doesn't look like a list at all
- make Edit Comment button work in Snapshot Release user Comments (doesn't work at least in FF)

I do have to say, Vivaldi sites have a TON of latency. I have to assume it's due to CloudFlare, which has proved to be a bottle neck in more ways than one.

As some of the guys pointed out above, the website itself is REALLY slow compared to most other websites, and seems to take quite a bit out of the browser to load it's own site. This is my main gripe with the website.
-
Another forum productivity improvement:
Pls allow to select a portion of the post, and than quote it by clicking "Reply". Currently the entire post is quoted, and then must be edited to remove excessive text, which isn't easy in big posts.
Also, allow this "select to quote" operation multiple times, while a forum member types a new post, so multiple quotes of text portions from one or several previous posts could be added to the same new post before its ready and posted.
-
Pls show in each forum post, how many Thanks it received if any from other forum members. The number of a post Thanks or Likes is an important sign of the posted idea popularity, and its vital to see that info for both User Community and Vivaldi staff.
-
Please: A userprofile setting that allows some forums to be excluded
example of use: If I select "Recent Topics" many threads appear from various non-English-language (local) forums - of no interest to me as I cannot read them.

You should definitely make it possible to differ the username from the mail address. With these current settings anyone who reads the forums or reads comments on Vivaldi snapshot blogs can know your mail (username + @vivaldi.net). I'm suggesting this since I've received some fishy scam mails since commenting publicly on the team blog.

I think the forum could support an upvote system, mainly for the browser feature request post to see what's the feature who is winning more support among users.
-
Hi all,
I find the forum system for the suggestions a bit confusing.
It will be better from my point of view that the features suggestions system is not structured as a forum but like, other company
do, **a system when a people post a suggestion and other people can upvote or downvote that suggestion like a reddit post, and
after that order them from number of upvote-downvote. It will make all the situation more readable either for user
and developer team.[/[/b]quote]good idea, myself suggest something a bit more simple as a up/down vote button on the forum posts but I dunno if Kunena has plugin for that
I know a recent beta version of Kunena that support a thread start voting, it's a starting
and I found this plugin https://github.com/janosgyerik/jquery-upvote
https://www.kunena.org/blog/161-kunena-5-0-beta-2-released** -
I could not find a way to change my "name" that's shown on screen. I think the site is currently using my username. I would be happy if you could separate the username used for logging in to website and "Name" that is shown on screen.

Button to upvote / +1 (feature request) messages in this forum.
When I search if a feature is already requested and I find it, I would like to underline that I would like that feature too or agree to the post (similar to the option in the team blog comments) . Maybe it could help to see whats highly requested and what is rather a rare request. Quoting the message and add +1 to it causes to much clutter I think.

I was just browsing the forums and was surprised that Vivaldi's fast forward and rewind don't work here (neither in regular thread pages, nor in search results). Then I realized that there are only page number links to switch pages, and no first/previous/next/last links.
It seems a shame that such a basic functionality of Vivaldi is not supported on the official website. So maybe it would be a good idea to add them?

I'd like to so see the All Platforms forum placed at the top of the forums list. Many questions going to specific platform forums could go there and be accessible to everyone, rather than Windows being the default place for most people.
Also, I'd like to see the titles of threads with New posts listed in Bold font.
Thanks.

Let's split the requests from old and new forum!
Therefore I'm closing this topic and will move the most recent discussions concerning new forum to this topic: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/11983/feature-requests-for-vivaldi-s-new-forum
See you there! -
