Feature requests for 1.9 / 1.10
-
Tab Customization - Currently, an user could only change the roundness of the tabs.
What I propose is the option to change the angle of the tab
-
Home Page Customization - Right now, there are only few customization available for the home page.
What I propose is making it OPTIONAL for users:
-Weather
-News
-Time
-Speed Dial
-Social MediaAny of them can be enabled/disabled via settings.
-
Privacy Customizations-There's really not a lot of customizations for privacy to be honest.
What I propose are builtin options that can be enabled/disabled:
-Block Ads/Tracking
-HTTPS Everywhere
-Block Phishing and Malware (Not Google's because Google's own version sends data to the mothership)
-Block Scripts
-Fingerprinting ProtectionAgain, this can be enabled / disabled via settings
-
Bookmark search behavior - collapsed/expanded state should be remembered:
Let's say you have one or more expanded bookmark sub tree(s) and search for something. Now it correctly finds it, so far so good. But when you clear the search field, all bookmark folders are collapsed.
But what ideally should happend is that the original open/closed folder structure should be there plus, like in Opera 12, if you selected one of the findings (bookmark or folder) the sub-tree to this entry should be open additionally and the selected entry should still be selected!
The benefit of this is f.e. that you can search for a folder name, select it, clear the search and so "found" all the bookmarks in it. An IRL example (of many): You would order Pizza -> search for your bookmark folder "Pizza delivery" -> found all restaurants (even that one without "pizza" in there names or links).

It actually updates a blacklist at Vivaldi's startup and checks sites against that static list, AFAIK. You can already disable reporting the errors to Google through Vivaldi's UI.
-Block Scripts
Though not directly accessible through Vivaldi's UI, you can access content settings via vivaldi://chrome/settings and disable JS globally, then enable it on a per-site basis using the site badge.
For more fine-grained control (i.e. allow JS per request domain, not only main URL), the uMatrix extension comes to mind. (I would myself like a uMatrix-like generic blocker built-in, but I doubt it'll come)
-
@IcePanther I mean i dont really want to install extensions. I prefer things like built in some of the other browsers lol
-
Hardware acceleration messes with the menus on my laptop, making them unreadable and unusable. It would help if there was a way to turn it on/off with a shortcut. Otherwise, the browser is unusable to me on some systems (Manjaro for sure).

Delele multiple tab stacking groups
When I click on some tab stacking groups (plus some single tabs) and I click to close them is deleted all selected tabs but from groups is deleted just the last one of the group was seleted not the all tabs of the group. I would like this were fixed
-
@pycur The fact that it is standalone does not make it portable unfortunately... copying Vivaldi standalone to another system removes all extensions and passwords (due to how Chromium works).

please add dragable web panel
see the details here : https://forum.vivaldi.net/post/124163 -
Hi guys
I wonder if it is possible to have a better tab stacking snapshot view. when I bring my cursor on a stacked tab, I see all tabs square thumbnails side by side. But the problem is that if I have too many tabs stacked together (for example 30), This view is really cannot be used. They fill up the whole screen and you cannot even see all tabs. I don't know if there is any other view for stacked tabs or not, but if not, I think this view needs a redesign.
Regards

@afshin.pir I agree, they should be expandable (as well as usable in a tree view in windows panel)

Yes. That is the problem. Twenty is fine, if you need thirty then you really need two stacks.
Devoting development resources to making such exceptional cases workable is wasteful IMO. Tree style tabs won't help much either if users open 30 tabs in a stack.
Speed Dial is a similar case. It stops being useful if one has more slots than will fit in one window. Sure, the thumbnails could be made smaller, but then one has to hunt and peck to find the right one, which defeats the purpose of Speed Dial. It is better to create a new Speed Dial folder than to try to squeeze too many tiny thumbnails into a single screen.

Proxy settings for each web site.
-
@dLeon Yes, I especially have an exception list for all my RSS feeds and for mail accounts in M2 (exception to use proxy even if I have it inactive for all other sites). I retrieve updates there quite regularly and I do not want the website owners to be able to track my position / movement (although the feeds are not personalized, that should be rather easy).
I use the same SOCKS 5 proxy there for all the connections; however, I would not mind to be able to customize this even further (this proxy for this website, other proxy for another). -
Opera 12.x has the ability to automatically detect the logo/favicon of the site that's added to the SpeedDial, and use it as a thumbnail - a big, clean and easily recognizable logo. Why not make Vivaldi do the same?
-
@eddydc Wholeheartedly agree. I would vouch for a feature that allows exporting and importing all Vivaldi preferences via the command line or have all these settings stored within an individual file that could be copied from one Vivaldi installation to another. This would allow easily setting up multiple computers with the same Vivaldi preferences.
-
ALL categories of search results in the Address Bar dropdown list should be optional, not just turning off bookmarks and typed history. The user should be able to choose what he/she wants to see in the search results list - history, bookmarks, open pages, web search results, etc. I myself usually need local search results (history and bookmarks), but not web search items. Everyone is different and that's the concept Vivaldi is based on.

a notification on starting downloads would be nice
-
@victarion Doesn't the option to open the Downloads panel automatically suit your needs? There is already notification on completing a download, which is surely more useful.
