Vivaldi 1.6RC 2 - Vivaldi Browser snapshot 1.6.689.32
-
There could be a minor update even after the release, so people should not refrain from mentioning bugs and regressions.

Win 7 64 bit, Viv 32 bit
FYI:
Very pleased with this release haven't found any goblins for me so far…seems VERY fast and stable. My system had corrupted block-chain and took 4 days of 24/7 to correct but think it had some things locked up. Hopefully more stable system. :D:D -
Win 7 64 bit, Viv 32
I am getting some kind of buffer overflow or program crash with my Corair keyboad that I don't get on FF. IF I want to copy a url in bar high-light tit do control c and it goes WILD on multiple ccccccc added all across bar. hard to stop!

When I enter search terms in the search field then use Alt-Enter to open a new tab for the search engine, the current tab is also duplicated.
Example: I am reading theonion.com and I use the search field to search for Subaru Forester and touch Alt-Enter. A new tab opens DDG with my Subaru Forester search results and a 2nd tab for The Onion opens next to the DDG tab.
I have disabled both keyboard shortcuts and all extensions but this still happens.
This did not happen in 1.5.x, but started a few weeks ago in daily snapshot 1.6.x (sorry, didn't capture the snapshot number). OS is Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

That sounds more like an OS issue than one with the browser. Have you discussed this on the Gentoo support forums?
-
Yeah after finally breaking down and just starting with a new profile, literally EVERYTHING I had a problem with (except a weird issue with Google Inbox) works. I hate having to start a new profile…but WOW! Vivaldi is nowhere near as buggy as I thought it was. All the more reason to desire profile sync! waits patiently

I still have to experience a crash on YT, but as there are literally billions of videos that come in in various sizes, encodings etc. pp. the same as probably a gazillion of different computer configurations:
- Can you provide video URLs that crash the browser reliably enough so that the crash can be reproduced by others?
- Any special YT settings (format, subtitles etc. pp.)?
- Does it happen with a clean profile too?
- On which OS and hardware?
I'd say it's mostly due to how Vivaldi handles HTML5 videos on YT. At some point during development of 1.6 it broke somewhere. It never happened to me on Chrome and Firefox. Vivaldi just crashes even if you don't actively watching the video. What's worse it happens completely randomly.

Starting with the previous update (so on this one as well), I'm noticing a weird issue on some (but not all) HTML5 video content. It's a kind of flicker especially on high contrast features (like white text on black background). It reminds me of how the interlaced graphics mode looked on the Amiga I've seen it on YouTube and on Twitch so far. Here's one random video that has the issue.
It's very visible if you skip to the loading screen at around 0:30 in the video.
Oh, and only Vivaldi does that - tried both the current Opera and Firefox and it's fine there.
I have this same issue as well. When I am watching youtube videos, the flicker also happens. Here is a link to a YouTube videos at a time it happens a lot: Video link at exact time..
Other browsers it is ok. Vivaldi it flickers.

The things that need to be done before I will fully move to Vivaldi:
1. New certificate handling. At the moment, it is totally non-existent.
2. On bringing up a blank page, then going to some site, on clicking back, should not take me back to the blank start page.
3. I want the ability to totally disable all these password prompts each time I go to some page with some kind of login. I WILL NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE IT. Do you get that Vivaldi?!?! I will use another password keeper of my choice. Reason? I use it with far more than a browser and on more than one system
4. The ability to block content.
5. Viewing video full screen, doesn't. It puts a window around the video and it crops the bottom part meaning we are unable to access the video controls - that it a big bug.
6. Being prompted whether we can accept or deny cookies each initial time one is offered, same with persistent storage.
7. Auto-form data - it needs to be hugely expanded. I have more than just my address which I regularly type in.
8. All the above should be handled natively without having to install a plugin. -
On Linux Mint 18.1 with Vivaldi 1.6.689.32 (Official Build) dev (64-bit) when I visit that page I almost instantly get the BSDB (Black Screen of the Dead Bird) : https://www.linuxmint.com/rel_serena_cinnamon.php
I deleted my profile and same problem, am I the only one ??EDIT : Same problem with Gmail. I think it's when the page load the Hangout module.
Also I get a lot more BSDB on Linux Mint 64b than on Win 10 64b am I the only one too ??
