Snapshot 1.0.435.22 - Bugfixes and Breakfast
-
@ruari Wow, that was fast! Speaking about pet bugs that really bug me:
- VB-11751 Opening links from other applications does not bring fullscreen Vivaldi to foreground. (potential showstopper for me.)
- Esc closes in-page search bar but exits fullscreen mode at the same time on OSX. Same for maximized videos in fullscreen mode. I'd expect that Esc exits full screen only if in-page search bar is already closed and no video is maximized. Otherwise close bar or minimize video first, respectively. (VB-11105 put in concrete terms.) (really irritating)
Any chance to see them fixed before 1.0? Nevertheless, thanks for the hard work. It's really appreciated.

Frustratingly, my 10.9.5 machine is inoperable right now, and getting it back up and running just might require upgrading to 10.11, so I might not be able to test that H.264 bug I mentioned in comments before. I'll do my best but no guarantees.

I finally got the update to install correctly to a USB installation:
1. Clicked on Install update
2. Let the installer launch
3. Manually closed VivaldiFor some reason, the installer won't close Vivaldi to complete the installation properly otherwise.

Three major gripes
- I've been getting random crashes when closing a tab with mouse gestures. Someone knows if that one has been bugged?
- We still need Close Tab and go to Right! It should be here before 1.0!
- And option to disable middle clicking between tab and address bar
It seems that 1.0 is really close

I think one thing that needs to be fixed before the final is the flashing that occurs when I toggle the panel in and out. It's been happening for a few snapshots now, and wasn't happening before. It doesn't do it for all sites, but for some, such as vivaldi.net.

Jon has mentioned that mail would be present in the next version after the first stable. I don't know if that means the first decimal version, ie 1.1, or the next whole number version, ie 2.0. That said, remember there's many a slip 'tween the cup and the lip.

Is this 64bit any better (or worse) than 32bit?
-
The Chrome extension "Google Translate"(https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-translate/aapbdbdomjkkjkaonfhkkikfgjllcleb?utm_source=chrome-app-launcher-info-dialog) it does not work. Twice it worked and then it was over.
-
Also I've noticed that fonts on many websites changed
Coincidence? I think not, it must be vivaldi's fault -
The address bar search doesn't work, if i have a % in the search string.

I have problem with alt+tab too when switching from Vivaldi to another application.
Vivaldi is active, I press and hold alt+tab. The "alt+tab window" disappears after ~1 second.
If I just press alt+tab briefly to switch to another window, Vivaldi takes its focus back after ~1 sec.
I tried to replicate this couple of times and found out this doesn't happen every time but at least once in three attempts.(latest Vivaldi 32-bit @ Win 10 64-bit on 2 different computers)

I have been using the 64 bit builds for as long they have been available. As far as I can tell they are atleased as good as the 32 bit builds. When Chrome went 64 bit Google wrote something about the benefits for their browser ().
If you are wondering about 64 bit being better (or worse) than 32 bit in general that is a bit of a large discussion. There is a lot written about it on the internet.

Looks like my pet bug is not on the fixed list yet. Since a couple of builds using the middle mouse button on a bookmarks folder also opens the bookmakrs inside any subfolder in that folder. Is this going to get fixed (or get a setting) before final?
Aside from that, thanks for the great browser and looking forward to any new/extra features once you get version 1.0 out the door.

It would be nice if the next and previous buttons to move through history on logitech mouses are supported in vivaldi.
Using the two finger swipe with the mac touchpad to move through history would also be very appreciated.
I also wish that clicking the pop-out button with google hangouts would open a popup like other browsers rather than a new tab. -
Thanks for good and fast working
I want to ask, given that we are approaching the stable version, which will be added synchronization and a built-in email client?
The improvements I would like to ask, translation Slovak language. And it would be possible to add indicators of downloading speed? And some crackers or visual changes to alert the user to the fact that the download is complete.
Thanks.

I would like to have close tab and go to right before final.
To me closing a tab is still one of the most awkward things about Vivaldi.

The one issue I've had with Vivaldi lately is that often pages don't load completely. Basically it seems like the connection timed out, and the page loads with images missing, or some CSS not applied or something.
I've noticed this after switching to Windows 10. I also bought new hardware at the time. So it could be an issue at my end. But I think it was around Beta 3 when I got the new hardware set up. I haven't tested in other browsers.
Has anyone else had a similar issues?

You can see (almost) the whole team on https://vivaldi.com/team/

The difference with the others OSes is that Linux is so advanced, that the parameters of the languages can be handled directly on the OS level. And Vivaldi is nicely integrated in that way.
But I agree that an option should be provided, and there will be. A discussion about that happened recently. But I don't think that will happen for the final.
In the mean time, you can use the command line with something like "LANG=en_US.utf8" (I don't remember how to do it exactly, but you get the idea).
