After update to 1.8.770.50 (Stable channel) (64-bit) settings of custom new tab page is not working. I have set new tab page to "chrome://newtab" and using momentum extension but vivaldi always land to speed dial page even after this settings.
This looks like a bug, could vivaldi team look into this?

@droidsumit: It's kind of a "feature," not a bug. Developers intentionally disabled Vivaldi from accessing chromium's newtab page because it was doing it in unwanted places. As I understand it, they are looking at some way to let custom speed dial extensions work in spite of it.

@Ayespy Thanks for reply. Wouldn't this have been nice if first an alternative would have been provided then you could have mandated this feature of showing speed dial.
Would be nice to have custom new tab feature for such a smart and advance customizable browser, The only reason I switched to Vivaldi from Firefox.

@droidsumit - There is a solution for using momentum extension mentioned on the forum. Did you find it?

Here's the past-1.8 workaround for Momentum to work in Vivaldi - instead of
chrome://newtab
use the extension's address:
chrome-extension://laookkfknpbbblfpciffpaejjkokdgca/dashboard.html

@pafflick Thanks ...got it
-
@Ayespy Yup! got the same!
-
For google earth view its:
chrome-extension://bhloflhklmhfpedakmangadcdofhnnoh/index.html -
For the Flickr Tab extension to work in Vivaldi - instead of
chrome://newtab
use the extension's address:
chrome-extension://bhnpmdabjgpimmnbmhefncbghknfegog/flickr-tab.html
The ID you get it from Tools > Extensions > ID.
Cheers

Controlling new tabs via third-party extensions with additional functionality, such as productivity tools or reminders.
As of the latest release Vivaldi now supports to let a third-party application control new tabs, so these solutions are deprecated.
