Media_Err_DEcode

Usual apologies if this has been posted, I searched for this error to no results. Any video played on my news portal site, stuff.co.nz, always crashes after a few seconds with this error. If I refresh the page, 99% of the time the video will play through. Any new video I click on once that one has played though - on the same page when other stories are lined up to autoplay in the same video space - will also crash the media player. This also happens on my workshop machine, same setup, that is, Windows 10 ent 64, no weird extensions, HTML5 player, version 5.11.4. I only post as one video today will not play no matter how many times I reload it and it always crashes in the same place. It could well be corrupted, as the player's crash message implies, but what of all the others? YouTube and other news sites I visit play video fine, just stuff.co.nz's player. My other installed browsers play the video fine, some with Flash, some with HTML5 players. (Firefox 51.0b1, Pale Moon 26.5.0 - my previous go-to browser)
This has happened with every version of Vivaldi I've had installed, and I've been using it since the very first build was released, but only lately as my primary browser, a tough break from Pale Moon. I assumed this video crash was because I sometimes use beta versions. No matter what version, there has to be an explanation. If it's my setup, fine, I'll change it, I just want to know what to change.

I can confirm, happened on 2 videos out of the 1st 4 I tried
Media_Err_DEcode
The media playback was aborted due to a corruption problem or because the media used features your browser did not support.
F5 on the page and it plays back normally. -

In the video section of the homepage? Those played OK for me - but I'm using 1.5.658.31 on a Linux machine atm.

Good to know it happens to others, and good to know the Limux build seems stable. The video I have trouble with is just any story with video; as soon as I start the video it tanks between 2 and 10 seconds in; F5 and it's fine thereafter. When a video has finished, on this page the final screen shows 4 other links to video stories within the same frame. If I click on one of those, it too crashes until refreshing. To replicate I can go to any story that has the video icon beside it, load it in a new background tab by middle-clicking the link, change to that tab, manually play the video (or let it autoplay after 5 seconds) and the error soon occurs. One video I tried the other day, which is no longer present, would not play, but tanks in the same place each time. I also noticed yesterday that sometimes, the place where the video crashes, in the F5 playback, glitches at that point but keeps going to play through, so perhaps it's a caching issue or something....
Thanks again.
