PSA: If you use Windows 10, don't use CCleaner or similar software anymore
-
Since it seems a recurring topic on this subforum, I'll just mention that using any kind of "cache cleaner" will break most functionalities on Windows 10 and some other software.
Cortana is one of the most notable ones, Cortana needs a cache to work properly. Even if you disabled Cortana, the windows Search function also needs a cache to work properly. With Windows 10, you also don't need to "clear" you pagefile anymore, Windows can handle it just fine.
(caveat: if you have less than 8 GB the Windows Virtual Memory handling isn't that good, you need to increase it by double your ram)If you need to clear files for space, I recommend getting an app like TreeSize, watch the results, and manually delete the highest offenders.
But you shouldn't use "cleaners" anymore, Windows rely on them. -
@NSANE Actually you need to read these threads as your post is misleading.

http://www.howtogeek.com/243581/windows-10-may-delete-your-programs-without-asking/What does that have to do with what I said? One thing is about cleaning the system cache, the one you linked is about software that gets deleted (which I don't have an opinion because it didn't happen to me).
Regardless, the issue I mentioned (about cache) has been confirmed several times over users reports at reddit and Windows 10 chats. CCleaner and similar end up breaking some basic Windows functionality. Windows 10 stepped up really well on handling RAM, cache and anything that has to do with system stability.
BTW I gain absolutely nothing by this, and I actually used CCleaner for many years.

Whenever i read info like this, i reflexively smile, shake my head, & think; "Linux".

Tower's SSD OS = Linux Mint x64 17.3 KDE 4.14.2. [< 26/9/16]; Maui 2 "Blue Tang" x64 Plasma 5.8.2.

I totally want to use Linux but with my concerns for UX and my hate of command lines, I'd say it's still pretty far away from an usable OS - at least for me. But open source is the best thing ever... very strong usability on Android, not so much on desktop.

Vehemently disagree. Happily using CCleaner and O&O ShutUp10 on Win10 for a year now, and frankly it's "happily" precisely because of those two junk cleaners...
