Scroll vertical tabs - don't compress the tabs
-
When the tabs are vertical and show a thumbnaiil, it would be nice if the thumbnails didn't get compressed when there are many tabs. The vertical tabs should scroll vertically showing the thumbnail at full height. See the image for details: https://monosnap.com/file/ysUAtla1tOjgVtxB3i6utZngupbltw.png

If you want to open more tabs than will fit on the tab bar, disable Tab Thumbnails, and use the Tab Scroller (Ctrl + Tab) instead to find tabs by their thumbnails. Vertical tabs are pretty useless with thumbnails. I guess you can see about 5 at a time before scrolling is needed.
With the Tab scroller, you can see 7 at a time, and all of the others as you continue to scroll with Ctrl + Tab or Ctrl + Shift + Tab. Right Mouse Button + Scrollwheel can also be used, but I find the keyboard easier.

You mean Tab Cycler?

You need to enable "Switch tabs by scrolling," to use the mouse-wheel for the tab cycler.

"When the tabs are vertical and show a thumbnail, it would be nice if the thumbnails didn't get compressed when there are many tabs. The vertical tabs should scroll vertically showing the thumbnail at full height."
My tabs are along the top. I typically have hundreds of tabs open. I need to be able to access any tab. This would be very difficult –- next to impossible --- if only a few were displayed and I had to scroll to see others. With the tabs compressed, the thumbnails enable me to see what a tab is --- even if the actual tab is too narrow to see.
If there is significant demand for full width tabs, this could be offered as an option --- but it should NOT be the only option.
Regarding the entry itself, several parts of it are unclear to me:
"the tabs are vertical" --- what does that mean? My tabs are along the top. They are vertical.
"thumbnails ... get compressed" I do not believe the thumbnails are ever compressed. What are compressed are the tabs.
I hope that my response is appropriate and not the result of confusion.

Your tabs are horizontal across the top. User is talking about vertical tabs on the right or the left where, when there are too many tabs to show complete thumbnails, (any morel than about six tabs) they begin to get compressed from to bottom. They continue to be compressed more and more as you add tabs, until there are no more thumbnails, at which point the next tab you add (around tab number 30) creates a scroll bar to scroll tabs. User is asking to create the scroll bar as soon as there is no room for another tab thumbnail, and never compress the thumbnails.

Alt + mouse wheel works, but it's too different from Ctlr+Tab to be useful. Why not allow mouse wheel scrolling with Ctlr+Tab?
