KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid
-
@WildEnte I was simply offering an suggestion to the acronym; I am not using (or implying) that we should use it.
-
Said:
ah. Don't like it.
What didn't you like?
The AI rationing or the meaning of the acronym?
Said:
why do we as regulars on the forum have to use that kind of tone?
What a bad tone I have used does not correspond?
-
Said:
However, I do not understand why they continue use it and on the other hand of entering the forum to insult it as stupid...
Why do I have to willingly accept that a person comes to my home, yes, my home, to tell me that the browser I use is stupid?
Because if I use a browser that is stupid, it is clearly understood that I am nothing but a stupid person for using it. Or not?

Yes, some users have such opinion on Vivaldi browser.
You are free not to use these "gadgets".
But if you really need a naked browser with no gadgets, you would be pleased to use a Ungoogled Chromium. Thanks for your opinion.
Stupid! Really Stupid!!!
Broken download is called a bug.
Known bug when trying to download many downloads at once and needs a fix. -

it is often better to use plain English.
Since he and @DoctorG used an acronym, I played along by using a made up one with the word he used, so as not to insult him like he did to ALL of us who are perfectly stupid for using Vivaldi.
I still have no clue what BOSU means.
In the end the Grok figured it out, just change “Back” for “Better”.

I ask those characters who think that, how would you like all those “gadgests” that bother you that they exist but do no harm if you don't use them, that are going to be taken out, but by the way also CSS and JS mods come out? What would they say?
When you go to a fast food place and order a combo, it comes complete with everything, and therefore you have to accept it as it comes.
In my country, when someone complains that his mother-in-law or the bride's brother is a pain in the ass, the answer is “Don't just marry the bride, marry all her family”.

There are still a number of Opera features that I miss, but Vivaldi is a nightmare to support...
For whom is it a nightmare?
For you who help users or for the team?
Said:
features never seem to get polished, or some regressions remain for months or years, which is frustrating.
Are those problems so tremendous that they prevent you from doing your work or having fun surfing the Internet?
Or do people just love to complain about trifles all the time?
On the other hand, what would happen if the Sopranos did not post the problems they find, but handled themselves internally, and therefore only the problems that users detect would appear?
Clearly, the “problem” would be minimized. It's all very exposed.
-
@barbudo2005 I have only problems with non-functional features. All other gadgets which i do not need or dislike can hidden or disabled by me.
-
Said:

Would you be so kind as to tell us which are the ones with which you have problems and that prevent you from doing your job in an important way?
Or to put it another way, what would your attitude be if you didn't participate at all in the forum, and only post when something is preventing you from using the browser properly?
-
@barbudo2005 You asked and i will answer.
My issues are related to features as there are
i need- Most: Spatial Navigation
- Most: Insufficient keyboard navigation in UI
- When i like to test: Crashing Mail/Calendar
- Most: Broken Sync
- Most: Broken Download Panel
- Sometimes: Broken WebUSB/WebSerial
- Most: Broken Developer Tools
Broken feature issues waste time. And i often report bugs.
My goal is: KISW = Keep It Smply Working.
-
Said:

There is no extension that satisfies you?
When i like to test: Crashing Mail/Calendar
In other words, you don't use the mail on a regular basis, but only for testing purposes.
Most: Broken Download Panel
I download continuously every day and the files download smoothly to my folder.
That's what's important, not what happens in the panel. Most: Broken Developer Tools
And in those cases can't you use Chromium as a replacement or does the problem also occur in that browser?
-
@barbudo2005 UI navigation can not be solved by extension.
Using Mail for testing because i am a internal tester
Download work nice for single files, but not for a bunch of files as f.ex. in Microsoft driver pages.
Developer Tools are better on Chromium, i use it.I do not dislike Vivaldi, i am Ambassdador to spread the word and Soprano team member to kill all bugs. What can i do more
-
Said;

Nothing, you already do a lot and everyone in the forum recognizes and appreciates it .
-
@barbudo2005 The complexity of Vivaldi makes it hard to support other users. They rarely even tell us which version and OS they are using, let alone what settings are enabled. To reproduce an issue is often impossible without having the same settings as the user.
If you scroll through my eight pages of Feature Requests you will find a number that we had in Opera, and others that delay my workflow. One thing I encounter multiple times a day is having to collapse the keyboard shortcuts tree to find what I want. It is so simple to fix - just default the tree to collapsed.
This regression is over two months old already. Some are much older than that. IMO all regressions should be fixed before the next Stable release.

@DoctorG
Ohh yes, the eternal update mania like a heroin addict looking for his next fix...! this install is a default install no add-ons. It was "updated" a couple of months ago. It didn't alert me of an yet again "update" and when I checked today, yes there is a 7.1 which will save the world... so I did it; does the same!!
This is an issue with overdone over-engineered security.
All my invoices are paperless and I can go and download them whether insurance, bank, PG&E etc. what have you, they are all typically PDF files. DOH!?
perhaps I will go back to paper invoices with everyone so they have to print them and mail them to me! Worked for many decades!
Needlessly complicated enough, some websites work on all browsers, another website has to have a specific browser, PG&E does not work on that browser but only on this browser... etc. etc.
Creation of artificial complications! Thus KISS!
I don't need every browser installed just because some brain fart decided to make it only compatible or incompatible with a specific other one!
What is the effing security issue with looking at or downloading a freaking PDF file from my account I logged in?To be perfectly clear:
I can log into (one of the most secure) my bank account, with any browser and download PDF statements, make payments, transfer money etc. Yet, for example PG&E, I cannot even look at or download my PDF invoice!Consider I have to login anyway into any of my authorized & verfied (often double) online accounts and now this genius browser tells me I cannot view or download my own document because they are blocked. (with the standard lame excuse "for security").
Yet there's no clear to the point concise short info how to unlock it! STUPID! REALLY STUPID!KISS! Really KISS!
I have other more important things to do than waste my time with this nonsense! -

Yet, you wasted so much of your time already. Ranting achieves nothing, and is a waste of time. Solving issues often takes only a few minutes.
- Ask politely
- Try the suggestion
- Request clarification if that fails
- If no solution fixes an issue, report a bug which will help other users when it gets addressed.

@Pesala
I did.
I need to get things done.
I'll send you an invoice for my time wasted, OK?
Just look at the replies and many irrelevant replies that eventually totally drifted off subject.
This forum unlike others does not even "moderate" so all stays on topic! -

All because of your rant in the first post.

Useless browser, overengineered gadgetry I did not ask for!
You came across as an impatient troll who was not here to solve a problem, but only to be abusive.

OK I'm allowing Pesala to get the last word in here, and locking this topic. User clearly does not want any help, just wants to rant, and this topic has gone on long enough.
