Features requests for 1.4
-
I just recently switched from Chrome to Vivaldi, so I only have a few:
Mouse Gestures
Please stop with the linked new tab/open link gesture. On sites with man links, using the gesture for new foreground or background tabs almost always result in openng a link. Give us separate options for the links. I am currently using an extension called crxMouse Chrome Gestures rather than the built in gestures and the only reason is that this behaviour is incredibly frustrating to me.
This extension actually has a few more options that might be interesting:
[ul]- Super drag: Gestures that are activated when you drag a link or selected text.
- Gestures for copying selected text, the current URL or the URL of a link to the clipboard.
- Wheel gestures (right/left click+mouse wheel), for example to switch tabs.
[/ul]
Exactly my experience with "Open link in new tab (over a link)".
Example when it is impossible to open new blank tab with mouse gesture
When searching google images - there's no space without link - so new tab always loads some image. There's no workaround for this - except not using original mouse gestures.
If I wanted to open it in new tab, I'd have clicked my middle mouse button. It's absolutely useless to use mouse gesture on that.No need to make extra features on gestures to solve this experience breaker, just make the "Open link in new tab (over a link)" optional.

A Master Password to encrypt all other passwords.
A better password mgmt-function would be nice but the Master Password function would be a great 1st step.

Background sound notifications would be awesome. they are the only thing holding me back from using Vivaldi full time. i use an email notifier extension called Gmail Notifier and it sends sound notifications when new mail arrives. works in all other browsers. Please, Please, Please get this going…
Thanks

Hi there,
As a web developer I heavily use the "Device Mode" tool in the Developer Tools. This is the tool that let's you emulate different mobile devices and tablets. You can see what I'm talking about here:
I was hoping this could be enabled in the Vivaldi developer tools - I know that these are the standard tools from Chromium so I hope it won't be too much effort.

I don't know if in winodws hardware video acceleration is used but in linux is not supported by chromium the same as vivaldi, we tried to ask for the feature but chromium developpers didn't nothing, in vivalvi can be added support for vaapi in linux?
in chromium with a patch can be enabled for example but it isn't official and default -
- Customize Speed Dial images, would be nice to be able to get something like Opera's "Coaster"-like colored boxes with the domain/subdomain as text (easier to spet which one i want by the color rather than to have a ton of similar looking entries for forums and such.)
- More customization for Speed Dials, eg. change size.
- Exception rules for cookies, for example when i have Cookies: Session Only, i'd like to have exceptions to some cookies that wouldn't get deleted when closing the browser.

It does not have to be for 1.4 but there is one thing that keeps me from switching to Vivaldi as default browser: Script control. Please develop something that comes at least close to the NoScript Extension for Firefox. I love have control over what scripts are allowed to run in my browser. There is absolutely nothing comparable available for chrome/ chromium.
My second wish, this time only nice to have: Let us reposition the app icons. It's annoying having to switch extensions off and on again only to change their position.

Faster Page Load Times
The pages load with a slight delay after moving from 1.2 to 1.3. Javascript and page loads are much slower.
-
- Configurable UI would be amazing. (customizing URL bar, where buttons are located and how tiling works etc.)
- Cut memory usage a little bit
-
More than 6 bookmarks in row in the speed dial. Thanks.

A clean cache feature.
Also right click to add speed dial pages. -
The ability to simply drag tabs out to create a new window ala Google Chrome. I often use this to separate YouTube or Netflix from my main browser window.
Better scaling in the Web Panels. I've only just discovered this feature and love it. Apps like Gmail work wonders, but Feedly and Soundcloud not so much, some buttons seem to be cut off… I understand this may be down more to Feedly/Soundcloud/etc to rectify.

A clean cache feature.
Also right click to add speed dial pages. Both are already available. Tools menu, clear private data. To add a speed dial, just right click on the start page.
@panchenko and Cail: The other speed dial feature requests are already listed in this post points 7 and 8

Make loading indicator on tabs in background more animated.
Now before the advent of the loading indicator (in tab) of inactive tabs it takes some time, or if the page loading is slow and the indicator line is not moving, it seems that with the tab, something wrong, the tab is frozen.
There is a proposal to make this indicator even more animated, that's the same principle as in the attached gif.

Panel
Good day:
One concern of my users, this feature seems to bother, because they lack in their notebooks in a very wide screen:
Is there any way to prevent the side panel opens reduced the screen every time you download something? If there is none, please add in the next versions an option to override this behavior.
Thank you.

+1
it's annoying that the search is opened in recent tab -
1.Firefox Tree style tabs like feature.
-This decreases chances of loosing tabs with so many open. Tab stacks aren't great in this scenario

2.Pinned tab should only show the favicon at the top.
-Saves a lot of space and is very manageable
-This is available on firefox tabmix

3.As i create new tabs in the side layout, the tabs aren't visible. They are lost somewhere and i have to scroll to find them. It would be nice to scroll to the point where the tab is loaded. -
whoaaaa!!! great improvements since betas!! great work!! already my default browser.
Request: download manager store files according its extension (in windows, i try to store a default file without extension and ask me if is a txt document)

I see a couple of other users are as annoyed as I am about the left panel. In fact, I created a forum account specifically to communicate my annoyance at the fact that, every time I go to View/Show Panel, and uncheck it, the $%#@ thing turns around and reappears. We really and truly don't need to see our downloads all the time. Pressing F3 to show/hide it is something I may eventually remember as being simpler than using the menu, but I think that it should be hidden by default.
