Request for Vivaldi to disable adblock while Firefox goes free with uBlock enabled, why?
It happens that Vivaldi is asked to disable adblock for some pages (Google app.) such as articles from XDA-developers.com while Firefox gets scott-free with uBlock enabled.
Weird huh?

@danielson
I also encountered those prompts previously. However, XDa developer now functions correctly for me. I recall a workaround I used some time ago for similar prompts; try enabling and then disabling desktop mode. -
Not sure about that feature.
Found "desktop site" in settings, but toggling on/off didn't change anything.
At least, not aforementioned site.Other links don't seem to behave this way.
Just an oddball i guess.

@danielson In Settings > Tracker and Ad Blocking > Manage Ad Blocking, be sure that APB anti-circumvention list and AdBlock Warning Removal List are both selected.
With those settings I rarely see prompts to disable my ad blocker, and never on XDA.
-
@yeswap - under "Manage Ad Blocking Sources", have checked off:
ABP anti-circumvention list, AdBlock Warning Removal list, Allow ads from Vivaldi partners and EasyList. -
This is a funny one.
This a.m., clicked on another article by XDA on Google app. and it requested Adblocker be off.
So, went over and unchecked it.
Sure enough, ads showed up.Went back, and instead of previous default choice of "Block Trackers", selected "Block Trackers and Ads", closed Vivaldi, went back to the XDA article, clicked on it and no ads appeared! ha!

I am having this problem with xda-devlopers. In Desktop mode I don't see the Ad blocking notice but I do as soon as I go to mobile mode.
I have checked that the Ad blocking items are selected in Settings.
I have stopped and restarted Vivaldi with no change. It's very frustrating.
Any further ideas?

@Harrisc try to add these two lists to prevent adblocker detection
https://easylist-downloads.adblockplus.org/antiadblockfilters.txt
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bogachenko/fuckfuckadblock/master/fuckfuckadblock.txt
https://help.vivaldi.com/android/android-privacy/android-tracker-and-ad-blocker/#Blocking_Sources
-
I added the above-mentioned URLs but xda-developers.com is still blocked.
The desktop page isn't blocked on Android -
@Harrisc
Try using ad-blocking dns-DoH. There are a lot of them. The right one for you is selected by trial and error.
For example, this one will help:https://doh-de.blahdns.com/dns-query
And this:
https://dns.adguard-dns.com/dns-query
-
I tried adding these 2 URL but unfortunately the blocking page appeared again![alt text]
-
@Harrisc
Every one of them has helped me.
But let's say.
What if you add one of these:https://family.dns.mullvad.net/dns-query
https://adblock.doh.mullvad.net/dns-query
https://base.dns.mullvad.net/dns-query
Settings > Privacy and Security > Use secure DNS
-
@far4 I added https://family.dns.mullvad.net/dns-query to Settings > Privacy and Security > Use secure DNS and it seems to have worked in conjunction with
https://easylist-downloads.adblockplus.org/antiadblockfilters.txt
and
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bogachenko/fuckfuckadblock/master/fuckfuckadblock.txt
in Ad Blocking sourcesThanks
BTW I had previously put the dns URLs in the Manage Ad Blocking Sources!!! Thanks for spelling it out.
-
@Harrisc
That's what I assumed.
But now you know how to use dns-URL
-
@Harrisc
By the way, this table of different adblock capabilities of mullvad dns-servers may be useful to you.Source:

@yeswap said in Vivaldi AdBlocker is Detected:
APB anti-circumvention list and AdBlock Warning Removal List
Vivaldi relies on APB anti-circumvention list and AdBlock Warning Removal List for not being detected.
These filters will always have sites which detect them etc.
These are not filters that have a huge community behind and are not updated almost daily like uBlock Unbreak filter.Until Vivaldi's native adblocker supports uBlock's syntax and until we will be able to use filters like uBlock Unbreak filter and disable AdBlock Warning Removal filter, there will always be some sites which detect the native ad blocker.
