Alternatives to uBO

When/if uBO is not going to work in Vivaldi, Firefox+uBO will do most of my browsing instead.
Try Zen browser, you might well become zen.
I tried it. It doesn't support horizontal tabs at all!
For us Horizontallers it a major drawback! -

Yes, but many people have requested it and the dev has said it will come.
Have patience and faith.

Is Zen browser better than Vivaldi in blocking ads/trackers? Did you compare it with https://d3ward.github.io/toolz/adblock.html and https://adblock-tester.com?
-
@Gregor
of course yes. Zen browser is Firefox-based and can use uBlock Origin with full power (manifest v2) -
@maximvasiljev If Zen's adblocking is based only on uBlock Origin then probably its abilities/effectiveness is the same/similar to Vivaldi, with the same filters (as I tested it above).

Not having horizontal tabs to this moment make me questioning zen project vision..

I don't see anything wrong with that vision. If I were using Zen I could not care less about horizontal tabs. When I used Brave I only used verticals, now that I am using Vivaldi I only use verticals. In fact, I cannot understand how anyone would prefer horizontals.
If I am not mistaken vertical tabs are new compared to horizontals, which were original. But the fact that verticals have not gone away means plenty of users are interested.
Having said all that, everyone has their preference, but to judge a vision on the basis of a temporarily lacking feature is over the top. Vivaldi lacks features, some of which users have clamored for for years, yet the devs have not picked it up. Lack of vision? Nope.

Tabs placement is the most important part of browser experience. Most users are Horizontallers. Shipping a new browser without even an option of horizontal tabs is a lack of vision to me.

The browser just got out of alpha and is now in beta. So, it is not even a full, stable product yet. Judging it as lacking vision is shortsighted.
Anyhow, it does not matter, you are focused on horizontal tabs so none of the other features matter.
I have no axe to grind as I am not using the browser. I use Vivaldi as my main browser, which is superior in customizability, while Brave, though as customizable, is my rock solid back-up

Shortsighted is not including Horizontal tabs since the beginning.

I use Firefox and Vivaldi. I don't care about other chromium browsers.

So my initial judgment about lack of vision was right in the end.
from their wiki:
"How can I use horizontal tabs?"
Zen Browser will not support horizontal tabs in the near future. The decision to focus on Vertical Tabs is a core design choice, with the entire Zen Browser experience built around this concept. This approach is intended to maximize screen space and improve navigation, making vertical tabs an essential part of Zenโs philosophy.
https://docs.zen-browser.app/faq
Ok, their decision.

@Stardust, for me vertical tabs are also the most logical approach, since almost all webpages are in vertical format, horizontal Tabs, more if used in multilevel, rest valuable space of the page content.
Only in panoramic content, like movies or games, horizontal Tabs make some sense, but these are watched anyway mostly in fullscreen. -
@Catweazle I prefer to allocate all available width to the content. Also having tabs on top of the edge is way faster to close or reorder with mouse because it's the edge of the screen.
I also have Vivaldi side panel always hidden.

I'm ready to say goodbye to Vivaldi just because the synchronization hasn't worked for several days.
I will choose Firefox for the Internet and Thunderbird for mail and calendar.
But I'll give Vivaldi another day to fix it. -

People leaving Vivaldi for synchronization now?
I don't use synchronization in Vivaldi and Firefox -
As said before, even Big Brother companies aren't free of a Big Server crash
Shit hppens for everyone, in Meta even enough time to fill the network with Memes.
-
@Stardust I use Vivaldi on several computers and phones. Data synchronization between devices is important to me.
-
@Catweazle Instargam and Facebook is a very big company with a lot of equipment and data centers. Therefore, they can repair long-term. But not Vivaldi

I understand, hope the team will fix it asap
-
@intersk, yes, it only shows that servers always can crash, even big ones for long time and not so easy to fix even with a big team.
And also that because of this it is nonsens to change a browser only for a sync down, when all other works flawless and all data are safe.
