I just navigated to aol.com and got a popup from you asking if I wanted to use some new email feature of yours. If I wanted that kind of information I would have asked for it. How do I turn off these annoying notifications from Vivaldi?

@ThaddeusReed Without knowing what the popup actually said, it is hard to tell. Was the popup asking to set AOL as a mail handler, or was ir something about Vivaldi's built-in mail client (as in, suggesting you could use the client over webmail)?

If you really want to disable all notifications, that's more likely something to do in Windows.

Yes, it asked about the Vivaldi mail client. How do I turn that, and all other notifications like it, off?

These Vivaldi popups are extremely annoying.

There is no setting for this in Website Permissions and I can't imagine how it could be related.
I'll try to get a screenshot of it once it bugs me yet again.

I got it today visiting gmail.com, it's a one time notification (actually a popup box, not a windows notification) that invites you to try Vivaldi mail, there's no need to make a fuss over it

I've had to dismiss this ad twice within 20 minutes.
Please make certain this is one-time-only, and I won't have to dismiss it after every minor patch release.
Or even better, tell me what to insert into .config/vivaldi/Profile\ n/Preferences to suppress it.
I have Vivaldi on two computers. Each with 25+ Profiles. Minor patch updates are roughly monthly, or more frequent. I could be dismissing this ad 50 times a month. I had an Operamail email account 20+ years ago. I'm aware.

Insert to Preferences this, I hope you know how to the following to a json file

                    vivaldi.context_dialogs.seen.EnableMailContextDialog
                    set it to true

Btw, this is not an ad. An ad means they try to promote something that makes them money. This doesn't.
If you saw a dialog telling you to try Bing or Startpage that would be an ad, that would be a promotion of a partner.
This is about informing new users that Vivaldi has an email client built in.
Many new users may not know it.
And there isn't a way for Vivaldi to know you had an Operamail 20+ years ago. It is not all about you:)
Also there is no way you get this 50 times a month unless you break your Preferences file all the time:)

I got one bugging me for syncing - popups like this appear for different features, that I'm not interested in at all, and they repeat from time to time.
Need a way to turn it off as it is yet another bit that pushes me further to switch completely to Brave

Just now I got a "Share Vivaldi" pop up. I understand that they want to increase the market share.

But since the early v6 days until now Vivaldi has been piling little annoyances update by update. It is death by a thousand cuts.

I noticed those annoying Vivaldi popups too. It is expected for Chrome or Edge but not Vivaldi. I don't want to see such popups ever. I know all the Vivaldi features and I have been following Vivaldi development since the death of Opera Presto.

                            Thanks for the reply.
I didn't edit the profiles. While I could, it's more work than dismissing the alert... assuming it's only once per profile, ever.
My estimate was based on 25 profiles(unsynced) * 2 computers, * after every Vivaldi software update.
In practice, I have not seen it since, so I'm happy about that.
Today, I even tried opening several less frequently used profiles and tried to trigger the alert. No alert.
Perhaps they thought this through better than I gave them credit for.

I have been using Vivaldi for awhile and it is my favorite browser despite it's 'flaws' (which browser is perfect?) but I am considering dumping it.

I am tired of how software is constantly resorting to nagware to get you to pay, or to subscribe or in this case, use Vivaldi Mail.

I am not a fan of centralized mail. I prefer to keep my mail accounts separate. I use to be able to log into my Gmail account easily but now every time I try to switch to it, Vivaldi uses nagware to get me to switch to Vivaldi mail. I tried it some time back, didn't like it and stopped using it.

Does anyone know how to turn this off before I go back to Firefox or Opera?

                              I am. . . . annoyed.

@elizcarr I never noticed any nags. A vivaldi.net account is free.

I chose Vivaldi because of the built-in email client, not the webmail account, though I do have one.

Using the email client I can filter individual email accounts if I need to. I can also log in the webmail, but only do it for testing purposes.

I'd be curious if it happens to you. I don't actually log into my vivaldi account. I just use it's sync capabilities to share by web browsing history and notes across my many devices. So if you sign in to vivaldi.net, this may not be a problem with you. But if you don't sign in, try going to gmail.com and see if it tries to re-direct you to vivaldi mail. It didn't use to, now it does.
