1.5 Reader Mode
-
Congrats on a really great new release. Well done!
I really like the emphasis on Reader Mode. It works well, but I have two suggestions.
First, I would like to see a reverse-color Reader Mode, with light text on a dark background. Second, I would like video players to be displayed in Reader Mode. On the site I tested, the player didn't make the cut.
Thanks.

Thanks. I hope the video comes too.

Yep, reader mode is nice.
There is a "Filter Invert" option. Exactly below "Reader View", in the Page Actions menu. For me that is the small icon looking like "<>" at the bottom right of the status bar (use control-shift-s to activate if you do not have it on).
Unfortunately it does not work as I would expect it to. It inverts the text colour but not the background colour, which makes it pretty much useless. I would actually call it a bug... Isn't it? There is not much point in inverting black text on white background, into white text on white background. That is no text

Actually the Filter Invert works pretty well here, on this page.

I've noticed that the Reader View button shows up (in the URL bar) for some pages but not others. Is this intentional? (That is, on page load, does Vivaldi do some analysis of whether a page can be expected to benefit from Reader View?)
Pages that differ can even be ones that are structurally similar. E.g.:
https://vivaldi.net/en-US/teamblog/181-lighten-up-your-day-with-vivaldi-browser gets the button;
https://vivaldi.net/en-US/teamblog/180-vivaldi-1-5rc-4-vivaldi-browser-snapshot-1-5-658-42 doesn't (and neither does this page, for that matter).In the cases of the pages for which doesn't show up in the address bar, if I go into the Page Actions menu (the <> button at window's lower-right) and the Reader View checkbox, the button appears in address bar as if the mode is active, but nothing else happens.

@Isildur - It only shows for pages where it is expected to work.

Also, a definite bug (reported just now): Reader mode clears document.title in the DOM, so the raw URL shows up in the tab.

Not here...! I get light grey text on (the same) white background. Weird. Interesting.

I know this is an old thread, but let me share what worked for me...
First off, I changed the bgcolor in the Reader_View.js located at %appdata%\Local\Vivaldi\Application\1.8.770.9\resources\vivaldi\user_files\
I set it to #222, because #000 was too black for me...
But as I am a complete noob, I wasn't able to set the font color to white... So I had to settle with using filter invert to make the font white...All in all, I have a functioning 'dark-mode' for Reader View... Hope the option is added to Vivaldi by default...

I assume that you change the "body" background color to #222 there.You assumed correctly..

For default font you just need to add this, also under "body";
color: #ffffff;
.Oh! I tried font-color, text-color, and then just gave up
Thanks for the help... "Dark-mode" works perfectly now
