Solved Friday poll: which version of Vivaldi on Desktop are you running?
-
The global 'Open Source' community is constantly developing outstanding programs for all areas.
Which are often significantly more powerful.
Simply because more people are working on them, frequently in their free time.
The well-known "SETI" project, the photography of a “black hole” and quantum physics are good examples of this.

This is true. But if your bank and your accountant use only QuickBooks, There are only two ways to coordinate with them - either pay monthly for a QuickBooks subscription online (from Linux), or download and use the desktop program (on Windows). You cannot import/export/sync your data using a superior open-source app. This is also true when you are work-from-home and your employer is married to Google Docs or Office365 (OneDrive) etc. By catering to Big Business, Big Tech preserves its dominance.

@Catweazle
Public administration is a very interesting topic.Many cities and municipalities in Europe have switched to Linux and have had very good experiences with it.
Microsoft really torpedoed this and managed to get some of them to go back to Windows.
There are some very crazy stories where tough battles are being fought.
It's a huge market.
Microsoft recognized the threat a long time ago.

@ingolftopf, of course, even the NASA and ESA use Linux and Open Source, but not prcisely for the normal user or companies not related. As @Ayespy said, most companies use apps and services provided by M$, Adobe, Google, etc., And yes, there are some administrations which use LibreOffice, but not so frequent as needed.

This is exactly the point.
But things are changing there too.
Global
We can only support this.
With a Linux operating system, for example.
