How To: Share Tabs Between Devices / Send Tab to Computer
-
By the way, while some people have recommended using the cloud icon on Vivaldi Desktop to find open tabs from other devices, at least for me it only lists a few of the open tabs.
For example, I have 20+ tabs open on my phone. However, Vivaldi desktop only lists anywhere between 3-5 of them. I'm not sure what is the logic on which ones are synced.

@areynaldos
Hi, open 22 tabs on mobile shows on desktop:This need 30 minutes or more to work, open vivaldi://sync-internals on both devices and hit Trigger GetUpdate work immediately:
I had to restart the mobile device sometimes but update the syncing work in most cases.
Cheers, mib

Hi,
Look at here. -
This post is deleted! -
@Zalex108 , @mib2berlin thanks for chiming in. What I noticed in the end is that by using the cloud icon on my desktop I was only seeing the "active" tabs from my mobile device. So although I had 50+ tabs open, only the last 6 or so, the active ones, were shown. So I had to go back and refresh/reload the previous tabs and they started appearing.
Thanks again!

@areynaldos
Hi, thanks for the feedback, I always forgot to mention the setting lazy loading of tabs.
I have this setting always disabled, outdated tabs make no sense to me.Cheers, mib

Sad that we're in March 2023 and still this feature isn't restored. For years I've been trying to switch from Firefox and Vivaldi seemt a great candidate, but this is a deal breaker for me. I shouldn't have to keep tabs open in one side, just so I can grab on another device. Sure I can hibernate the tab but I just want to send and forget about it, not having to worry to go to the other device and get it back.
-
In Firefox, I send tabs to work, to my bat-phone, to Batgirl (we share an account), sites that require you to sign up for something only to give you a pdf, you can send that pdf over too, images and infographics, interesting pieces of code I find (like a css doing something clever), and more. Send it and forget it on this device, pick it up and use it on another device. Find something good before lunch? Send to it phone and keep reading. The current setup is nowhere near as useful. For me, this is a killer feature.
Further, Mozilla's implementation rocks. I can right click on a page, or the tab, multi-select tabs and send them all over at once, rather than having to send them over one at a time. The tabs can be a mix of items, it doesn't matter. Great utility. I check back on this forum every few months to see if Vivaldi has done anything different for this feature.
-
@Bewc Does the Firefox implementation allow for "send to other device and close tab"? That would be perfect. I would also love a "pull tab from other device and close there".
-
@felagund It's a two step for that.
step 1: right click -> send tab
step 2: right click -> close tab
However, sometimes I want to close the tab(s) and sometimes I don't. What is cool, is if I have a bunch of tabs, I can select them all, right click send, and then right click close, which at times is better than doing each tab on its own. -
I´m using Vivaldi for two years now on different devices and there is only one thing I miss: The send-tab-function. I want to have the possibility to send tabs to other devices. It´s a nice-to-have feature that it works the other way round but I don´t want to click a link on 5 different devices to get this webpage on my device. Right click -> Send tab to -> device 1, 2, 3, whatever ... It could be so easy, I guess.

Just cross checked it... Brave is able to send tabs to other devices (Chromium 124.0.6367.202) and Vivaldi is able too. Just click the Vivaldi-Logo -> share -> send to devices. There you can send a tab to other PCs/smartphones/... (Checked with Vivaldi on Android)
-
... but sadly only on Android. Havent found a possibility to get it done on PC.

And this actually works for you? I jus tried and yes, the option is there but no tab opens in vivaldi.
-
you´re right. I don´t tried it yesterday because I thought the option should work fine if there IS the option... Actually it doesn´t work...
-
it used to work on android (albeit barely / rarely), but now it doesn't work at all anymore.
It DOES work when using chrome in all directions (PC > phone and vice versa) -
It used to work. But the functionality has been broken for years now.
I try to use it from time to time, just to see if they had finally fixed it, but no, as of this morning, still doesn't work from Android sending to Desktop. -
@areynaldos You're correct .............
used to broken, and work again , and broken , work again , finally broken until now.
It may seems a big job to fix it right.

@areynaldos @eeeemc
Hi, it is not broken, the Chromium developer removed this feature since a long time.
Some other Chromium browser like Brave add it back and have to maintain this now.
The Vivaldi team leave the Chromium source as is in most cases, it is a huge task to maintain the existing code already.As all tabs are shared to all devices anyway it is just a bit more work to open tabs from device A on device B.
I use the windows panel for this, you can select multiple tabs from an other device and open it in the actual used device.Cheers, mib
