Well, it's an even with specified time, yes.

@Ekhangel
Hm, I cant reproduce it.
We have a report if a user create an event, sync it and then change it to a daily event, the move it one day ... a few steps more.
Very hard to reproduce.VB-104869
[Calendar] Event exception duplicatesWe need other user can reproduce this on Vivaldi 6.6.3271.50.

Well, good luck. I'll stick with the good ol' Calendar App from Windows 8 till then. And when it's withdrawn (supposedly this year), I don't know what I'll do, because everything else is utter crap, one way or another.
-
@Ekhangel I am sorry for your frustrating experience with Vivaldi Calendar.
We have had issues with duplication of events for a long time which have mostly been related to recurring events and usually google calendar. Sadly there was a regression that got released with version 6.6 of Vivaldi which makes duplication much more common and not limited to recurring events. It still doesn't happen all the time and we don't really know what triggers it.
The problem has already been fixed in our development branch but due to some conflicting changes it could not be included in minor update released yesterday. Not sure if we will try to take another attempt at backporting the fix or not. Worst case it will be fixed in next version.Positive from this is that we have located some more possible sources of event duplication so the long standing problems with them might be improved.
-
And BTW for those affected by this recent bug where events created in Vivaldi duplicate on next sync with server, it should be fine to delete the first event in Vivaldi. The first event, the one with the broken info causing the duplication, will be shown at the top or to the left of the duplicated pair. Alternatively if you can live with the duplication, it will be cleaned up automatically with next version of Vivaldi.

Thanks a lot for the news. Any details on when is the next version coming?
Or, perhaps, could I try out some legacy releases, if available?

@Ekhangel
Hi, you can check the snapshot builds, they are for testing bug fixes before they get into stable.
Don't install it over your existing stable, you cant go back, use standalone install. -
@mib2berlin Thanks!

Sorry for the late response but I just wanted to post the update that a proposed fix for this was released in a minor update to stable last Friday, April 12th. Version number is 6.6.3271.61.
Although we still know that there can be duplications in some cases which we haven't been able to pinpoint but that is much much rarer. I sincerely hope that this update will fix the regression of 6.6.

I can officially proclaim the issue resolved – at least on my end. Thanks a lot for your work, the calendar is great! Cool visuals and great functionality.
Were it not for Vivaldi, I have no idea what I would move to after Microsoft has virtually abandoned its Win 8 Calendar, because everything else sucks bad.
-
@Ekhangel That is good news. We will continue doing our best to provide you with useful alternatives to the big tech giants.
Thanks for the response, always a nice boost to get positive user feedback

Damn, this is a sad day. I had two major f***ups at work today, and in the evening it turned that... guess what: my beloved Vivaldi Calendar is not automatically syncing calendar updates from any other client (be it Gmail in the browser or an Android calendar client). The only way to sync events "from outside" (added from my phone, for example) is to click the "Refresh" (or "Synchronise"? button in the Vivaldi Calendar. Then it syncs correctly. But clicking the button all the time is obviously not an option.
I actually missed an assignment today (this being one of the f***ups), because I had added it outside the PC and it didn't show on my PC today.
Is this making any sense and is there anything I can try before giving up on Vivaldi again for now, with a sorrow heart?
The funny thing is: I am 95% sure everything worked correctly until today. And with the previous issue discussed here the situation was exactly the same: everything worked fine until some several weeks into using the software.

No clue what could be the culprit, mods?
-
@mib2berlin thank you! I will use One Calendar when I unlock Vivaldi Calendar, presumably when I also unlock Vivaldi Webmail.

Added events still duplicate when refreshing calendar. After all those updates. Crying shame.
