Youtube trialling new ad-blocking
-
@barbudo2005 Even this is now detected and blocked.
-
-
@barbudo2005 Yup. I have the script installed, and for the last week it worked perfectly, but today I again got the usual warning “you can play three videos before blocking”.
-
No one using the script has reported any problems, so it should be your installation.
Are you using the built-in adblocker or uBO?
-
No such issues for me, only using this script and the Vivaldi blocker. Anyway, currently I use mostly the MotionBox Video Browser or PokeTube, instead of entering the YT page.
@SuperOscar, have you installed the Script with GreasyMonkey or directly as extension?
The script only should fail if you have YT open in several tabs. -
I’m using the builtin blocker.
But now it actually looks like i still CAN play videos even after the third one in a row, even if I initially got the warning. Fourth video running (I’m running them from beginning to end just to make sure).

Directly as extension.
-
@glenart1 "So there!" - Ha ha!
-
@TheQuantumAlpha I didn't get a notification for this post... strange
We are rebuilding the engine to try to decipher youtube's HRLs...
your project sounds intriguing indeed

At the moment I'm testing Adblocker Ultimate with the Vivaldi blocker and also the iFrame script desactivated, it works from Desktop in hidden mode, Websites don't see that you are using an adblocker. Until now it works fine, even in YT, no ads nor nags.
(Windows, iOS, Android, also as Browser extension) -
@aiinseinn The time to test YT-iFrame script is come, it seems ^^
-
@Hadden89, yes, Adblock Ultimate is very good and works fine, but it isn't free, only a trial. At the end of the Trial it stops working and annoying with pop-ups to pay it or desinstalar it, the letter and continue with Vivaldi blocker and iFrame script, which also works fine and for free.
-
The only drawback of the iFrame script is in the videos where the user has desactivated the insert it outside of YT, that give this hikarant error
Video is not available
The owner of the Video has disabled its playback on other websites
Watch on YouTube
No problem, copy the Url and open the SMplayer (Icon in my Windows Taskbar at hand), click on Open Url and the copied URL is already there, Enter and watch the Video. FYT

(Windows, iOS, Android, also as Browser extension)I installed it but Youtube wont show Videos, only a blackscreen with an startbutton in the middle.
i deinstalled it and activated ublock origin again, gave em an update and youtube works like on the first day. -

At first it didn't work. Likely google is also storing the block in the cache (which I purge at browser exit)
-
@Hadden89 i meant the cache from uBlock Origin
und options clear all cache and then the left hand side button "Jetzt aktualisieren"sry for my crappy english ..
-
Anyway is a good idea to have the SMplayer at hand, if all other fail, I put it also as extern player in FreeTube, which also don't like to play some Videos
-
I just want to say that uBlock Origin is still working for me a month after I installed it. I was being blocked when I was using Vivaldi's ad blocker. The moment I installed uBlock Origin, all the blocking ended. It's wonderful to be able to, once again, watch any videos I want to.
-
@CalebM, no problems with the Vivaldiblocker and the iFrame script, uBO is also functional, but it is not at all clear if it is still effective after Mv3 in 2024 in the Chrome Store, that is, I suppose you will have to install and update by hand from external sources, since that the version in the Chrome Store will surely be "decaffeinated" by Google or eliminated directly.

@Catweazle Said:

Raymond Hill (gorhill) has already decaffeinated it himself by creating uBlock Origin Lite which is based on MV3.
