Slow pdf printer rendering

Dear everyone, I would like today share with you my situation that my pdf printing is very slow via Vivaldi. Even compare Chrome, Viv does much weak work on this. Just for example, the below link (sorry it's just happen to be Japanese Huffington Post) http://www.huffingtonpost.jp/2015/12/30/kobayashi-setsu_n_8851138.html This takes a long wait for the pdf rendering which Chrome does ok for it. Just remind everyone my situation and if this happens for many, I would like the super development team to highlight this issue sometime soon. Thank you for your kind attention. Hi decamelon, can you please add your system specs?
On m old laptop preview need about 4-5 seconds on latest snapshot.

Opensuse Leap 42.1 x86_64
CPU Intel T4200 4 GB
GPU Intel GN 965
xf86-video-intel 2.99.917-6.1
Vivaldi Snapshot 1.3.537.5

I have tested again the pdf printing just to make sure if it still takes long as I mentioned…

It is a 7-page news article and I started counting after browser finish reading the whole page.
60 seconds for showing the printing preview (7 pages)
25 seconds for saving them as pdf.

My PC is a laptop HP ProBook 6550b series lowest earliest build:
Intel Celeron P4500 1.8-GHz processor, 2-MB L2 cache, 35W
RAM 2.9GB (32bit OS only reads 3GB out of physical 6GB RAM)
PC3-10600 1333MHz 2GB (default) + 4GB (additional)
Intel HD graphics (in-processor) / ATI Mobility Radeon HD540v

OS version Windows 10 Pro
Vivaldi version 1.3.537.5 (Developer Build) 32bit

I have checked HP homepage for the spec, and found out ProBook has many specs series in many countries...but mine is the lowest of all the specs, anyway.

Thing is the rendering was much faster when I was using Opera (fastest), and Chrome (ok), but not with Vivaldi (should be fastest)...

For me it previews as only 4 pages (not 7) on A4 size paper. Could it be that you have extra graphics etc (country differences)?

I am definitely NOT a Viv intellectual, just another user like you

My preview finishes on the photo of Junichi Ishida making a speech.
I do not see the comments that you have on the last 3 pages.

So your delay is not caused by extra graphics.

The only other thought I have is that I actually do NOT have a printer connected, so I am using either
Save as PDF or Microsoft Print to PDF to check.

Like Gwen-Dragon I get the preview screen in less than 2 seconds.

Note: I believe that the PDF option is actually a full page picture (not really a pdf file).
Based on this it could be a graphics over load problem although it is strange that Chrome works better for you (as both Chrome and Vivaldi use the same "engine").
Check that Vivaldi has both the PDF plug-ins enabled

On my system both are Enabled

You sure are a Viv intellectual, but I admit there are ultra super Viv intellectuals also around; )
I am just pure happy to belong to such a group or community, which I rarely find in this century…

I have checked my setting for the plug-in, but they are same as yours.
And the numbers of connected printer, although more than yours, but minimum, just have one more actual printer.

As I observe Chrome process, it shows the same numbers of selective printers at the printing menu and I am not sure its plug-in menu to check...But much faster 5 to 10 seconds to preview and 2 seconds to save pdf.

I think it is another local environment issue and I keep looking into possibilities to navigate around.
One thing feeling regret is Opera I use on the same PC renders faster even to Chrome, which is now others property.

However, for this problem all I can suggest is that you may be able to get more specific help in the Japanese forum ( at least someone may have encountered this before)

I am using Vivaldi 1.2.490.43 () (64-bit) on a 1st generation i3 with 4GB ram - Kubuntu 12.04.

Sometimes I want to print an article without the comments below it. This makes me have to do two print previews - one to see the pages and the second one that automatically happens when I select something like Pages 1-5.

Here is a typical article I just printed to PDF.

This one is current and actively getting new comments at the end, but the same thing happens for older ones.

What's slow? The two previews together took somewhere between 8 and 10 minutes! To print part of one web page!

I know just enough about printing to realize that creating a print preview is non-trivial, but this is a little ridiculous! Especially for the second preview - which from my (end user) point of view was already rendered and just has to be selected. I don't care if the content may have changed, etc.. I just want the 5 pages I have already seen rendered.

I love the Print Preview feature, but there needs to be some way to make it much more efficient or to temporarily disable it .

This is compounded by the fact that I frequently need to print a selection - which means that I have to wait for a useless print preview before I can select Print Using System Dialog because the Vivaldi dialog doesn't include a Print Selection option yet. (I have tried using Shift-Ctrl-P, but on my system, it doesn't do anything for some reason. I haven't tried to debug it.)

I tested the same webpage and the score is:

244 pages (A4 size)
8min 22sec for preview
13sec for windows save dialog

I read the same webpage on Chrome (52.0.2743.116 m (64-bit)):
246 pages (A4 size)
7min 17sec for preview
13sec for windows save dialog

Currently I use Vivaldi 1.2.490.43 () (64-bit), same as yours.

I have upgrade my windows10 pro from 32bit to 64bit so I have 6GB RAM, instead of 2.9GB.
Intel Celeron P4500 1.8-GHz processor
PC3-10600 1333MHz ram 2GB+4GB RAM

I personally think this printing could work in background, meaning
I would like to browse pages while Viv works on rendering.
This might be possible if the dialog work with a separate window, like Viv setting.

Just a scratchy idea from a top of my head; )

Now, with Vivaldi 1.3, I can use Ctrl-Shift-P to avoid the second or both print previews. It was fixed in this release.

@josephj11 Using 1.8 now. I don't know how they did it, but printing these huge pages with Print Selection is really fast now. This has been solved - at least for me.
