Which distro and desktop are you using Vivaldi on?
-
Hi, We thought it might be interesting to see how you Linux users are getting along using Vivaldi. Since there are so many distro's and desktop environments it's impossible for us to keep up with it all. We do all we can to make everyone happy so maybe this thread is where you let us know how you are getting along with Vivaldi on your chosen distro/DE combo. We would like to hear both praise and criticism. And as always, we are asking to be able to make Vivaldi better for all. And we really mean all, so don't be shy if you are a Pekwm user on Parsix Linux. We love you too but need to understand where there seems to be problems and where we are doing good. So give it to us! //Christian

Vivaldi 1.2.490.43 (64-bit) on Fatdog 702, Openbox desktop
Vivaldi 1.2.490.39 (32-bit) on Puppylinux Tahr 6.0 JWM desktop
No problems, but it's a tad slow on these old machines… -
I've been using it on Linux Mint 18, Cinnamon desktop.
I've only had one minor issue with the 'Settings' window opening up on my secondary monitor. Although, that's not totally a Vivaldi issue. I made a thread about it in the general Linux forum: here

Nothing special, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with self compiled kernel 4.6.2 (with BFS patch)

Interesting combo! How does Vivaldi run with OpenBox? I have not had time to try that. Any issues?

Maybe add an opt-in telemetry feature where the user can check what information is being sent?
I'm using Fedora and KDE.

@milkb0at:
Linux Mint 17.3 with Cinnamon desktop. Will probably move to Mint 18 soon.
I was a Mint user for a long time, but then I tried Unity on Ubuntu and loved it! Imagine that? Vivaldi runs and looks fully integrated on Unity with the Numix GTK and icon theme. I adjusted the theme in Vivaldi to look Numix and I am very pleased with the result.

Openbox is likely the most V friendly WM. No matter the desktop environment it's used with.
With OB you can set the vivaldi windows as native and get rid of the decoration, while retaining the active windows borders, and the possibility of resize, minimize the windows.
That scenario is hard to get with other WMs and can solve many corner cases, using multiple monitors or uncommon setups.

Vivaldi Stable on Antergos Gnome here.
2 big issues (not distro related I guess)
1 - extensions, no way to get them to pop up via keyboard commands
2 - Flash with MLB.TV gives a sluggish video streaming, Opera uses the same plug-in on my system and the video streaming is fluid.
I've had to stop using V as my default browser because of issue #2 -
Do you have turbo mode enabled in Opera?
When all other browsers had failed (Firefox, Chrome and Vivaldi) found this to be best mode at viewing a fluid livestream video.
(Did that test on Windows). -

Zorin 9 Lite (KDE)
Vivaldi 1.1.453.59 (Stable channel) (32-bits)In the past I had some graphic problems with the tabs, but now it's working without problems
I stick to this version of Vivaldi because of the cache format. -
Ubuntu Yakkety Jak base + Openbox,
Nelum-Dev1 Testing (Devuan Ascii based +Xfce)
Monara (Debian + Openbox),
KDE Neon (on Yakkety Jak base),Tried both Vivaldi 1.2 and Vivaldi 1.3 in most of the 64bit live distros of different base. I have it in my home folder and in a USB stick. Both Vivaldi releases are not installed (in the normal way) in any of the distros I have in my laptop. Using only Vivaldi 1.3 now.
Live isos - latest releases;
Fedora, Manjaro, Mageia, Puppy Slacko, Solus 1.2, Calculate.
Puppy and Solus live isos needed 2 extra libraries.EDIT: Just now trying Rosa R8 Live, the KDE plasma. Vivaldi 1.3 app opened from my home folder in the Ubuntu (installed) system. No lag at all.
