It's not unheard of for me to make a joke, but no, this is not a joke.

Does it work or not?

If it does, then it's the only solution at the moment. If it doesn't, then there is no other way to sort the extensions that I know of.

There again, one could argue that making the Extensions toolbar customisable is unnecessary work. You have only four buttons, and I have none. If the average is less than five, it hardly seems necessary to change the order at all.

In Opera 12.17, I have 30 Buttons just on my address bar, some of which perform a dual function, and many others on toolbars that I show only when needed, so I might be justified in saying that customising the toolbar buttons is necessary for me.

Nope. Extensions are loaded in slightly different order every time Vivaldi starts and that makes the buttons shuffle a bit. Uninstalling extensions and reinstalling them doesn't change anything in the long run. Unless one would be willing to do that every single time Vivaldi starts, which would be beyond absurd.

Google Chrome does have this functionality and it makes life easier. Vivaldi can't afford to stay behind if it aims to surpass Google Chrome. You cannot claim that Vivaldi only aims at users that don't have many extensions installed.

And I have 17. Some people use Google Chrome and Firefox mainly for extenstions. Ability to sort buttons in the desired order is very important to them. It would really be a shame if I had to chose what's more important to me - ability to sort buttons or ability to install and use extensions outside of Google Web Store (Vivaldi allows it, Google Chrome does not).

This is an old thread, and is now out of date.

Extensions can now be reordered by holding down the Shift key and dragging them.

Just a note that the discoverability / UI is pretty bad! it took me 15 minutes of searching to stumble upon here
I bet 90% of users will never find this.

I would suggest to consider making it clear to the user that this is even possible. Like some info text the tooltip of the dropdown button, or something else.

@tutanchamun There are tons of features in Vivaldi. I think new users should expect to read the help file: Extensions.
