Vivaldi keeps deleting an addon and is crawling on my nerves!!!
-
How many times do I have to install an addon for Vivaldi to keep it there and use it?! Twice I installed this addon: http://addoncrop.com/download_youtube_videos_as_mp4/ and twice V deletes it every time I close the browser!

Did you read the installation instructions for Devleoper Mode, and the FAQ?

Of course I did, how do you think I install it? I'm not that stupid. I installed another addon using dev mode and it stayed untouched. But this addon keeps disappearing and I can't figure it out why.
I don't assume that anyone is stupid, but I do assume that they may have overlooked the obvious. If they are stupid, it usually becomes obvious soon enough by their replies.
When trying to figure out why something is not working it's best to eliminate the most likely causes first before digging deeper. Are you getting the message mentioned in the FAQ that an extension has been disabled when you restart Vivaldi? As it says there, 90% of users follow the instruction to disable extensions, so of course, they stop working.

- I downloaded and installed the extension in Developer mode as instructed in the YouTube Video
- It was installed successfully and still present when I restarted Vivaldi (see screenshot)
- I download an MP3 from a YouTube video successfully
- Since doing so contravenes the TOS for YouTube, and also because this extension shows a load of spam, I deleted the folder from my downloads and the MP3 file that I had downloaded for testing purposes.
- On restarting Vivaldi, the extension had disappeared.

Pesala, I've been using this addon on Firefox since it exists and it has NEVER showed (what do you mean by "show"?) any spam.
As for YouTube, I don't care about their TOS.
I tried everything, including what you described and upon restarting the browser the addon was gone. But I'm a stubborn… animal and I found a solution by placing the folder with the addon in a directory where the browser has no power to operate and to delete things - in Vivaldi dir outside of the dir "Application". I wanted it to be in the settings folder for easier backing up. Now I can restart the browser as many times as I like and the addon remains installed. -

I downloaded and installed it again to double-check. After successfully installing it, this spam opened.
I restarted Vivaldi. It was still installed.
I don't know what happened last time, but somehow I got the YouTube to MP3 extension instead. I also installed that, I got the same spam video after successfully installing it.
I used the above two extensions to download a video and MP3 without issues.
As before, I closed Vivaldi, deleted the downloaded media files, extension installers, and the folders that I earlier extracted from them and selected to install the extensions. On restarting Vivaldi, both extensions were gone.
I am using Snapshot 1.3.544.25 as a Standalone installation on Windows 10.
IMO, if you're still using the 1.2 Stable version you're wasting your time and everyone else's by reporting bugs. So many bugs have been fixed since then, and as stated in the other thread, no bug fixes will be back-ported to 1.2 final.

LOL, this isn't spam. This is a video example for you to see what the addon looks like and to test it how it works. If it has opened in more than 1 tab, the problem is in your computer (perhaps a malware cloning tabs). When you install Adobe Flash Player, a page opens for confirmation and a demo for you to see how the flash player works but that doesn't mean it's a spam.
As for the other thing - no, I don't disable addons. I have a 24-years experience with computers, so such a stupid thing, like disabling an addon because idk what I'm doing, you can't expect it from me. And no, there was no such a message - the addon was simply gone; no messages, no nothing.
