A possible Bugfix I found out with Twitch
-
@Gneno Yep, cleaning the bloated cache could help.
Is a bit funny though as the caching was born to speed the things -

Hello,
having the same issue and wanted to first of all aknowledge that you made this post!
Was hoping that i´m not alone and was considering to make a post too, because of this.
So..
for me it started today.Youtube and a streaming archive of a streamer working perfectly fine (archive is 1to1 uploading stream vods so "should" be the same) ->about 7 % GPU 3D load.
Twitch at first fine after changing to a different tab and back again, roughly 30% of the frames are dropping and the GPU 3D load goes up to 99%. Not a problem in private mode or in Edge, for example.So I thougt it´s about the browser extensions (bttv, frankerfacez, 7tv in use) Short answer: No.
tried so many combinations. resetting extensions, clearing all website data of twitch.I don´t understand the issue. for real.
had cleared the whole cache of vivaldi after seeing this. Restarted vivaldi (and cleared again).
Was very hopeful. would make sense.
clicked on a stream -> everything fine. opening a new tab, going back to twitch -> same problem again.
(at 160p weirdly it isnt a problem -> so still bugs me that it seems to be some kind of workload issue)deleted -and after trying- reinstalled extensions. Reinstalled Video Drivers. no change.
still the cache thing is making sense to me. but seems to be irrelevant to the problem -.-
yeah (..) so.. wanted to share my experience. hope there is a solution to find or a bug to fix, to solve this.
only thing thats bugging me atm with vivaldi.
except that such a nice and unique browser.Thanks!

Hi, sometimes it is not enough to disable extensions you have to remove it. If it work in a private window it is an extension or your profile is broken.
On my laptop, specs in my signature, HD but not full screen, 60 Fps there is very low frame dropping changing to another tab and back.
You can create a test profile and add the extensions one by one.https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/tools/user-profiles/
Cheers, mib

@Syxtreme Hi! Thank you for expanding my Forum Thread.
I've continued to research a possible fix for this issue and so far i've come across something really useful, that works for me.
I havent had proper time to test this Fix with different Extensions from the Google Chrome Store, yet.
But if you activate the "Theatre Mode" on the Stream you wish to have in the background, it takes Alot longer for the stream to end up heavily Delayed.
(See picture if you dont know how to activate it!)
-
@Syxtreme did you find any solutions? Did my "fix" help you anything? I feel an issue like this can affect so many more than just us 2, and that could cause people to drop Vivaldi.
I primarly asks because I want to try narrow down the issue of this "Bug" entirely.

@mib2berlin Hi, as I mentioned I "deleted and -after trying- reinstalled Extensions". Very short written i know. Deleted -> tried without. No Change -> installed again, tried again.
Did Not tried it with a Test Profile, yet. Neither reinstalling Vivaldi or relogging into my Vivaldi Profile/Account.
Will try. -
@Gneno you are Welcome!
Hmm, was already using it in fullscreen + theatre Mode. But good to know, there's a difference. -
@Gneno sorry to say, but because I really wanted to watch Twitch live that day I temporaly switched the Browser, for now. Just too important for me, since I mainly consume Twitch at this Computer.
So.. im Missing periodic refresh and the advanced theming, but atm I'm waiting till its fixed or I find the Motivation to reinstall, relog or smthn else to fix it, again.🫤
^_^

@Syxtreme May I ask what language you use for your Twitch?
-
@Gneno German (^^)

@Syxtreme
Hi again, it takes only some seconds to create a second profile, then you know if your default profile is broken.
It is some work to reset your default profile but if you use Vivaldi sync you get it in a working state in a few minutes.Cheers, mib

Hi! I thought i'd give an update to all this.
Off-Topic: so I switched to Linux to help out with the Questions on Vivaldi Forum.
On-topic: What I realised when I switched is the Latency towards the Streamer you watch using Vivalid reduced by up to 7 seconds. Which can be a deal-breaker for ALOT of people.
I cant re-produce the reason as to why this is since im on Linux, but it seems something is broken on Twitch using Vivaldi on the Windows side.
If someone wish to continue my bug-hunting or just help out, i'd be happy!
