Address bar - Typed entries only?
-
Hi,
atm when I begin to type something in the address bar the pop-up shows:
Search Bing
<Icon> <what I'm currently typing in>Typed
<all the addresses I manually typed in before>History / Bookmarks
Is it possible to adjust this behavior (like you can in Firefox)?
I'd like to have only! the "Typed" category to show up...
I don't need all the other entries and it's just annoying (for me) to get flooded with entries that I don't want to see at all... -

Thanks for the reply.
The upper part is always: 1. Search provider, 2. Typed
Regardless if I change the two mentioned settingsEven if I turn both of them off, the "History" is shown and this alone consists of 90% useless crap (it doesn't consist of only sites you manually visited but e.g. of all tab addresses that were opened through popups).
It seems this browser is for everyone but not for me (a user that wants to have control about what he needs / wants to see)

Stay tuned. You will not believe how many more options will be implemented. Since the browser was introduced to the public Jan 27, 2015, I have counted 71 new options that have been added over time, plus countless refinements and fixes to these options, and they just continue to be added. More and more user control for this browser is available every week, so it's a little early to throw up one's hands and walk away.

I'd like to have only! the "Typed" category to show up…
Easy, just click on drop down menu on the right of the address bar, but you can disable the check-marks in Settings/Search AND Settings/Privacy tab, to get practically the same result while typing something

Do I? I must do something wrong.
Settings … - Search
All three options are disabledSettings... - Privacy
Enable Search in Address Field is enabled
I don't want to disable that because I need this function to be able to start a search right away in the address bar (without prepending the shortcut for a search engine every time). Btw, I just recognized that even things like "g sublime text forum" get stored in the "Typed" list. oO I assumed that at least only typed URLs are stored, not just everything. In this case even the "Typed" list is rather useless (for me).Apart from the problem that in all cases the huge list of history entries is displayed and I didn't find any setting to change that.
I use a list of about 60 URLs (in my current browser) which I browse frequently apart from a seldom search for something new and when I type something in the address bar it only narrows down the list of previously typed urls.
This behavior can be customized by using the "browser.urlbar.suggest…." options in about:config.
I had hoped that I can do something comparable in Vivaldi as well :side:
