Why is Vivaldi presenting blank pages?!
⋮Does the issue persist when AdBlocker disabled?
-
i have solve。
when i disable all extension.and reenable extension. -
With latest version sometimes page open white as above. Refresh still load just blank site, closing and reopening the tab fixes it. Unfortunately I havent found any pattern and this behavior seems random.
-
@AntraX666 Cam be caused by: Security Tools, Proxy, VPN, Ad-and-Taracker-Blocker, Extensions, GPU driver, out-of-memory, broken SSL etc.
-
@DoctorG Could be. I think its caused by some change in Vivaldi, because thats the only change on my W7 desktop and same thing I experienced on my work W10 laptop. All happened without use of proxy and vpn, on different radeon drivers with enough free physical and virtual memory and different security tools. First I thought its ublock causing it, but disabling ublock and refresh didnt help, while enabled ublock back and close and restore of tab did showed the site.
Most interesting thing I noticed that in tab preview the site wasnt blank but fully rendered and there is no way the preview was some old cached one as tab was loaded as new one from link. Also on forum site which appeared white dynamic buttons for report and quotes was showing with hover of cursor.
Personally I will ignore this issue (especially when all you need to fix it is close and restore the tab) as its really rare to happen (4 times in 1000 cases?), I think it will just disappear as it appeared.
-
@AntraX666 You said you tried refresh? That was my first guess. Hmm...
-
I can confirmed this bug, I think it might have something to do with cache issue. The way I fix this when it happen to a tab is hibernate the tab, flush cache, then reload affected tab.
-
Okay, still cant figure out how to reproduce the issue, but I noticed that when it start to happen, GPU process was using whooping 600MB of RAM and killing process fixed it issue right away after process starts again. The page is really loaded as cursor can show links descriptions and click links, preview of the tab also see full site, so page is not blank or empty but fully loaded just not rendered. Hope it narrows the issue at least little.

️ Some questions about the issue:
For which URL does that happen?
And how much RAM do you have?
Which GPUs?
Which GPU driver? Please check Troubleshooting issues.

Hello everyone,
So... I have the same issue since the last update of Vivaldi. This is concerning only two domains so far, and they have a common trait : they are wikis.
If I go on Wikipedia the the first time of a session after starting the computer, or on fandom.com, I will get a blank page (I don't know other wikis).
I realized that said webpages are fully loaded, as the mouse pointer is working fine and I got a full image after clicking somewhere in a Wikipedia page where I saw a hand, and said image was properly displayed.
If I close the tab and reopen closed tab, the entire domain will work fine for a while, EVEN if I close/restart Vivaldi. This is the only workaround for now.
...Well, I don't get a blank page all the time. Sometimes they are some squares inside, which mutate when I use the mousewheel. This looks like a graphic issue, or something inside the page is sabotaging the rendering...
...but I tried to restart from a clean profile yesterday night, and it worked during the session. The next day, the bug came back. So I wonder if the issue is really about graphics or if something become corrupt in the profile, each time.
I updated the Nvidia drivers and obviously it didn't solve the issue. I will try to check the RAM at some point.
SMART is fine and the Windows event viewer gives me the usual stuff.
I tried to disable Ublock Origin on this pages and reload, but it didn't work. Only the close/reopen tab way works.
I also have Stylus and there is a rule for Wikipedia, but not for fandom.com. So I think that I can exclude a conflict between extensions.
I will keep everyone in touch.

Happend the same to me :(, I have Windows 11 Pro 21H2 22000.978, all drivers and system updated. For now it only happends with microsoft ex: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/intrinsics/compiler-intrinsics?view=msvc-170

I encounter the same Problem on Windows 10 22H2 and Vivaldi 5.6.2817.3. I originally updated to this nightly version because of other troubles with the last major release.
Whenever I try and open a search result from a google.com search where the result points to fandom.com or steamcommunity.com the page will not render. If I instead open that link in a new tab it will render fine.
I ruled out my plugins, only ones still running are:
- uBlock Origin 1.44.4
- Lastpass 4.101.2
- Reddit Enhancement Suite v5.22.10
If I do the same stuff on a secondary profile the page loads fine. Already cleared cache and moved my session to a new default profile where I imported everything that I need. Only thing I can still try is move all tabs to a fresh session, but it's not bothering me enough to try that.
-
@w00kie You don't have plugins, you have extensions.
In order to "rule them out" you need to actually uninstall them - as disabling them often leaves a background process running, which can interfere.
If a clean profile works as expected, then you have likely ruled one or more extension IN, not out.
