Suggestion / feature request: click address in URL without doing default "select all"
-
This was a feature of the opera 12 browser, whereby clicking in the address bar (in those cases, you wish to simply EDIT the address, not retype a new one).... This i believe was the norm on all platforms, but for certain it was this way on Linux. By default, when you are on a webpage, and wish to edit say, a character in the middle of the URL, you have to click the url twice... the first time, does a 'select all' of the entire URL, and the second click, puts the cursor where you wish to edit. Perhaps, a means to toggle that (I'm fairly sure, there are those that prefer the complete "select all" feature when clicking in the address bar). toggle would be: default - this selects the entire URL, when you click in the address bar. Edit mode - This will simply place the cursor in the url, where you clicked, use 'double-click' to perform a select all.

No change is necessary.
Click to select the entire address.
Long click to edit or select from the clicked point, e.g. long-click before "address" and drag right to copy this text:

Long click doesn't work for me. [EDIT: I get your long click solution now, I gues, but it's default behaviour for all browser (just checked PaleMoon and Edge).., so I still don't understand the point of your suggestion.]
"No change necessary" What is necessary? Vivaldi is power user browser, this a power user suggestion?
Also, I do not understand what your example has anything to do with the address bar? -

Also, I do not understand what your example has anything to do with the address bar?Power users already know how to select to edit with long-click, just like in Firefox 46, Opera 12.17, and Opera 36, that's why no change is necessary.
Single-click selects the entire URL, which is the most common requirement, long-click and drag from any point selects the text for copying. Only IE11 doesn't do this: you have to click then click again. What else do you need?

Yes, I have to agree. Most of the time I want to click in the address bar to copy the url - even though I myself get slightly annoyed about it working that way when I want to edit the address. I didn't really use the long-click thing - by force of habit I just click once, then have to click again. I'll try remember to click and drag in future.
My vote is to leave it as it is, or leave that as the default behaviour if it ever becomes optional.
