Chromebook import bookmarks
-
I have downloaded Vivaldi to my Lenovo Chomebook and want to import all my Chrome bookmarks. I can find no way of doing this. I do NOT have a PC. I have a Samsung phone and an iPad only in addition to the Chromebook. Is there a way to get the bookmarks into Vivaldi without requiring the desktop version. I have an html file backup of my Chrome bookmarks.

@poppasmirf Here's how you'd do in in the desktop version of Vivaldi. It should be much the same process on the Android version.
#1: In the menu bar: Click "File" > "Import from application and files". A dolog box will appear:
#2: The dolog box will have a drop-down menu under "From", select "Bookmarks HTML file".
#3: Click "Chose a file...".
#4: Navigate to your bookmarks file, and import it.
You're done, Vivaldi should now have your bookmarks.

There's no import option displayed

Hi, there is no regular way to do this without using a PC once.
Is it possible to reach the profile folder of Chrome or other software on ChromeOS?
As both use the same Chromium base it is may possible to copy the file "Bookmarks" over from Chrome to Vivaldi.Cheers, mib
EDIT: On Linux it works! -

Perhaps an Android file manager could be used for that.

@Eggcorn
Use the Bookmarks file of Chrome and use it in Vivaldi. -
Check this thread: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/78199/location-of-bookmarks-file

@poppasmirf It is possible to install the Linux apps, including the desktop version of Vivaldi, onto a Chromebook (at least, onto some Chromebooks). Let us know if you want help with that.

@Eggcorn Hi, I also use a lenovo chromebook which I mainly purchased as an experiment because after having read about them for awhile I wanted to see what they were all about. I had to modify the firmware on mine because a short time after I started using it google stopped letting it receive any further software updates. This is the site where I was able to obtain the firmware as well as the instructions as to update the firmware on my chromebook. After performing the firmware update I started using this software: https://www.neverware.com/#introtext-3 when I first installed the software from the neverware site it was originally called CloudReady O.S. & then google acquired neverware:https://cloudreadykb.neverware.com/s/article/Neverware-is-now-part-of-Google-FAQ and after doing so they actually improved upon it and now I'm currently running the latest beta version of chromeos flex software. At least for me I'm not a big fan of the google chrome browser so it would be great if I could determine how to be able to install vivaldi onto my chromebook.

@Davy49 Do you want the Android version of Vivaldi, the Linux version, or both? The Android version has nice touchscreen controls.

I‘m using a Xiaomi Mi Max2 with android 7.1.1, and it was rooted.
On it, the Vivaldi's bookmark file is at
/data/data/com.vivaldi.browser.snapshot/app_chrome/Default.
My Phone's Boormarks is import by Vivaldi Sync. I've compared it with my PC's Bookmark and they are same. -
@Eggcorn At this point in time I'd be happy to be able to use any version of vivaldi on my chromebook, thanks so much for your response.

@Davy49 For the Linux Vivaldi, see if this article helps.
If you want the Android Vivaldi: You can only get that if your Chromebook has an "Intel series graphics card" (whatever that means), and even then, you'll have to replace Chrome OS Flex with FydeOS. Both Chrome OS Flex and FydeOS are Chromium OS distributions, they're based on the open-source Chromium OS.

I see that you & I share one thing in common, we both utilize the xda website. I actually have what I consider a long distance friend who's a android software developer in the forums area of that site.
