Download and Installation

Putting out a product that 99.99% of users can use, is clearly not a waste of time or money.
As to your particular case, no one can correct anything as it affects you, without at least knowing what's different about your operation, or the guts of your machine.

If I have to jump through hoops just to install this browser, it's not for me. When it's ready to be downloaded and installed just like any other program I may try it.
No offense, but I think that a supposedly power user which Vivaldi is aimed to, should be able to deal with a broken download

You make an interesting point. It's a bit surprising to learn how many "power users" require everything handed to them on a silver platter. I used to write some code in the 70's, but no longer. I'm no technerd by any stretch of the imagination - I can't edit CSS or mod bundle.js, I'm a right noob and tyro on Linux - don't even know but about five console commands, but I can always figure out (or look up) how to make things work, if there's a way to do so. If a program can be optimized to match my preferences, I'll figure out how. If it can't, I'll figure out the best way to use it.
And yet, it seems some "power users" are easily frustrated. They present problems rather than solving them. What sort of "power" is that, one wonders? Again, The_Solutor, interesting point.

At least in my country the things changed a lot after the military service stopped to be mandatory.
I'm anything but a militarist, but the military service was a nice way to understand that in this life not everything is due.
iPhones and markets did the rest.

If a dozen different browsers work on my computer and yours does not, I assume that something in your browser is not compatible with my operating system. I am not that sophisticated a computer user that I can find the abnormality in your product or in my computer.
Thank you for your effort. -

Thank you for your effort.Sophisticated or not you should realize that a download problem is not a problem of the SW itself.
It could be either a problem of the browser you used to download Vivaldi or a problem of the server.
In our case likely both of them.
Anyway FYI any server problem should be gone now, so you can test vivaldi w/o involving too much neurons on the download process.

Thank you for your effort.Or, you could assume that your computer is treating Vivaldi differently than it does other browser downloads. Then you can opt to undertake to find out why that is, or not. Your choice.
In my case, and literally millions of others, the computer treats Vivaldi the same way it does any download. It downloads it. It installs it. It runs it. It does so without issue. So - is it that Vivaldi's installer is different from other installers, or is it that your machine is different from millions of others? You may assume anything you like. Our assumptions are decision gates in the software that manages our lives.

I tried again last night and installed Vivaldi, it worked perfectly last night but this morning, it would not open again. I tried uninstalling it and install a standalone version but could not do so because of various errors that I did not understand and could not copy for someone to explain.
-
When it would not start this morning, did you check task manager to see if any of its processes were still live?
-
No I did not because I am not a computer expert. I have been doing my best to install Vivaldi and not having any luck. I have now given up trying, I'll stick to what works and leave it to you experts.
When you have figured out what is going on, please let me know but, as of now I have given up. -
Well, without access to your machine, and no communication from you, no one will ever figure out what went wrong for you.
So, while waiting for your problem to be solved, I would not hold my breath if I were you. Humans require oxygen.

You have had plenty of communication from me and no, you cannot have access to my computer. I have never had such a rotten experience as the communications from you. I don't know if you represent Vivaldi or are just a miserable person interfering.
You can keep your Vivaldi browser and I hope you will be happy with it. -
No one asked for access to your computer. No one wants access to your computer. I just stated the fact that no one can solve your problem without access to it, or to you.
Just yesterday, a user was beside himself with gratitude because I solved his problem. How? I asked him questions, I mentioned what I'd seen about a similar case, he tried a very simple solution I suggested even though he was sure it was probably unrelated, and his troubling, mysterious and somewhat unique problem (I'd only seen it once before - and it's a Windows problem, not a Vivaldi problem) was fixed.
I'm not a Vivaldi team member. I'm not a technical or computer expert. I'm just a user with a desire to help, but with limited patience for people who make demands and then can't be troubled to participate in solving their own problems. You're happy to slag off the browser and blame it for your troubles, waste the time of people who would like to help you, but you can't be bothered to try to help figure out why you can't use it. Yet, you expect the Vivaldi team, without your cooperation, to figure it out for you. You brought a problem. I tried to help you. You refused to be helped. But now I'M the asshole! OK.
Have a nice day.
