Solved How to change display order (rearrange) panel and extension icons?
-
In newest snapshot I can't move panel buttons up or down by holding
shift
, as it is in Stable.Do I miss something? A new setting?
-
@poown Hold down the Ctrl key to drag the extension icons to a different position on the Extension toolbar or drop-down.
Alternatively, right-click on the toolbar, edit, customise toolbar, then just drag the icons without Ctrl (or Cmd on Mac).
-
@Dancer18 The modifier was changed to Ctrl+Drag
Please post in the correct forum, to save time for the volunteers.
-
@Pesala Thank you so much! I missed it.
Correct forum? I thought it is about panels...
Would you or admin move it to the right one? (Snapshot?) -

You posted it as a feature request for panels. It is a support question: “How do I move Panel Icons?”

Using Windows 11 on a Hyper-V virtual machine running on Windows 10 host. Although the Shift-drag functionality works fine on the host, it's not working on the synced Vivaldi on the W11 client. (and just as I wrote this, I found that Control-drag works on the client!). Leaving this here for the devs and anyone else who comes up with this edge case.

Please make web panels adjustable, such that we can drag a panel up or down along the vertical bar.
Currently, if I add a Web Panel, it's stuck to a particular position that I can't reposition it to my taste.
-
@elekere Hold the Ctrl key to drag Web Panels up and down.
- Web Panels can be dragged to any position among the Web Panels
- The Default Panels (Bookmarks, Notes, etc), can be dragged to any position among the default panels
- The two types of panels cannot be mixed
-
Okay. I didn't know that. Thank you.

I just want to move extension icons between each other like moving tabs and saving my extension icon locations. Thats it, sorry for my bad english.

Until now, you could change the order of icons by holding down the Shift key and dragging the icon, but this is no longer possible since the latest update.
-
Ctrl+Drag is now working.

I used to be able to move (re-sort?) my extensions in the toolbar by holding shift down and clicking and dragging the extension icons. It does not appear to be working for me at this time. I have all the updates installed.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Alternately, can someone refresh my memory on how to move extension icons around please?

@Aussie
Hi, they changed it to Ctrl+move at some point, I cant remember why.Cheers, mib
-
@mib2berlin They thought that the volunteers were getting bored, so they made sure that we would have dozens of new posts asking the same questions about moving icons and deleting search engines.
-
The SHIFT+Drag&Drop no longer works for me...
what happened? How do you put the extension icons back now?and then... hidden icons extensions need to have icons + name, otherwise how can you identify an extension just by the icon? I can't remember them all.
-
@assurba Ctrl+Drag

why? why are you doing this? why are you breaking everything? previously was possible to reorganize the order of extension icons through the pressed shift. yes, it was a bad idea, but at least it worked. and now what to do?
