Google Keep extension not working in Vivaldi
-
I installed Keep extension from Google, but can't use it. Every time i try to sign in redirects me to google page where I can type my login and password, and after that blank page appears and nothing changes. Is it possible to make it to work?
-
The recent "Google Keep Chrome Extension" seems to only work with Google Chrome. It would be handy to have since it could sync with tablet...
-
After installing the Google Keep app, I then open it, and it says I have to log in. The Google login page opens in Vivaldi, I enter my credentials, then a blank page is presented (vivaldi://chrome-signin?access_point=6&reason=0) and nothing happens. Thanks for your help!

I'm having the same issue and I have yet to find a workaround. I'm absolutely champing at the bit to get this working in Vivaldi, it's a super useful extension in Chrome!
-
I think google extensions by google, rely specifically on a subset of settings that are ONLY on google chrome (like the google account integration), so they won't work, or works partially.
-
If that's true, it'll probably be enough to get me to abandon Vivaldi and go back to Chrome. It "just works". Also they ought not promote that it's compatible with Chrome extensions if that's not entirely true. I'm hoping something will happen to allow it to work; I've read of other (non-Google) extensions also not working so hopefully it's just a matter of time before things start to go right. The Inbox extension from Google works, as does Translate (for the most part) so I am going to remain hopeful.

I think the statement that some extensions cannot work in Vivaldi is not accurate. Some do not work yet, but it will be gradually fixed. This subforum was created to help more effectively identify which extensions do not work properly, help prioritize and get them fixed as soon as it is only possible. So please have some patience as things will definitely be improving. I will ensure someone will look into the issue with Google Keep and get back with feedback here.

OK, so let's clarify a few things.
There are: a Google Keep extension and a Google Keep App.
The App is here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-keep-notes-and-lis/hmjkmjkepdijhoojdojkdfohbdgmmhki?hl=en-US
The extension is here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-keep-chrome-extens/lpcaedmchfhocbbapmcbpinfpgnhiddi?hl=en-USBoth extensions and apps should work in Vivaldi. So if they do not work, it should be possible to fix.
The original poster LeroyZanzibar named the thread "extension" but I am not sure is he describing an issue with extension or App.
To which one are you referring to, CrackedLCD?I would need precise steps to reproduce the issue.
Regarding extension. I checked it and I cannot confirm the issue reported by the original poster in build 465:
1. I installed the extension.
2. This page was opened vivaldi://chrome-signin/?access_point=6&reason=0 as described by original poster, but it is not blank, it shows the login screen as you can see on the attachment. So was the issue fixed, does the extension work in build 470 released just yesterday?Regarding Google App. It installed for me flawlessly.
When I try to run it from Windows 7 Start Menu, where the shortcut got created, it opens a new blank Vivaldi window, but when I enter vivaldi://apps it is there and it runs when I click on it - see attachment. So it works.

I'm specifically referring to the extension. I have not tried the application yet.
The problem is that the login page is as far as you can get. If you put a password in and send it, the next page is blank.
I tried it again today and got the same result. A login page that I can't get past.

Thank you CrackedLCD. And what should happen after you submit your login/pass on the login page? A new page should open but not blank? What is its URL? Does the blank page display some URL or it is just a blank page with empty URL field? Thank you for your help. Once I have these details I will put it to developer's attention.

I'm not really sure what should happen after the password is input in that field. It should either enable the extension, or ask me for my six digit code for two factor authentication. On Chrome, that whole process appears to be automated and no webpage is opened. It just logs in automatically and puts the extension button on the toolbar, ready to use.
On Vivaldi, if I put my password in that field and submit it, the URL does not change. The page just goes blank. The URL remains:
vivaldi://chrome-signin/?access_point=6&reason=0I have also tried signing out completely through that form and signing in as a new user, but it still goes blank after the password page.

pettern (Vivaldi Dev)
chrome-signin is a pseudo-protocol we do not currently support in Vivaldi.https://www.reddit.com/r/vivaldibrowser/comments/4foped/google_keep_chrome_extension/t1_d2r6u33

Well, that's a bummer. It means I have to keep Chrome open to use Hangouts and Keep and other Google extensions? I might as well keep using Chrome, then.
Nah.
-
That's funny, but Hangouts doesn't seem to have any problems with sign-onβ¦. it has other unrelated problems though.)
-
It works just fine with Slimjet β¦
p.s. previously posted "partially" - had confounded with a personal wish that it also appear in a sidebar / panel.

Hi, the same issue is happening with many addons. I have tried Google Calendar and the same issue happens. Accordingly to some devs, Vivaldi has an incomplete version of the apis that Chrome uses for extensions. Which means, Vivaldi is not compatible yet with Chrome extensions. Some admins have told me that this is not a priority right now because there are some other mayor issues but they will take care of it sooner or later.
From my point of view, as a user, the usage of addons-extensions is critical for productivity and people who uses Vivaldi for working, as in my case, depend to much of addons (that is the only part I miss from FF)

Thank you for your reply to this issue. I am also a new user experiencing issues in the google universe, most particularly in my case Hangouts (so far as I have not ventured into other extensions) and am experiencing the Blank page landing after sign in attempt that others have experienced in this subforum. I look forward to resolution of this issue as I like the feel of Vivaldi, and that Firefox "Aurora" is experiencing extreme stability issue for me as of late after a long period of stability with the nightly builds.
Regards and thank you for being here.

I have downloaded Chromium from the Chromium Project page. When it launches, first time at least, it has a top banner message that Google Chrome APIs are missing. It appears Google policy is to keep stuff out of Chromium as proprietary. Perhaps not, but I suggest Vivaldi team personnel looking at this question try the same "problem" extensions in a Vanilla download from the Chromium site. It has been reported that Google's Android policy is to open source the OS but to keep its proprietary apps separate, which has been criticized in some circles, including European regulators. The same thing might apply to Chromium and Chromium OS as apart from Chrome browser and Chrome OS. Vivaldi developers should explore whether this is a factor.
-
Well, yes, chromium is essentially chrome without google apis, adobe flash player and telemetry

Vivaldi 1.3 I have been trying to install the Google Keep extension but without luck. It downloads then a new page asks me to enter my gmail password and after confirming that nothing happens. Only an empty page at this address: vivaldi://chrome-signin?access_point=6&reason=0 I can see the extension in the extensions menu/page... Useful extension to have to be honest. Thx
