Solved Google Calendar Not a Valid email address
-
For some reason when I try to add my google calendar to the vivaldi calendar, it says that I need to enter a valid email. I've used my gmail for everything and not have a problem. I even copied and pasted my email from my account to make sure I spelled it right. Any ideas how to sync my calendar?

@flamenwolf We have a recent regression which causes the Google oAuth dialog not to work if there are any active extensions installed in Vivaldi. This is being worked on, hopefully it will be resolved soon. If you do have any extensions enabled you can try to disable them while you add your Google calendar and see if it succeeds then.
Enabling the extensions after setting up the account should not interfere with normal working, as long as the authentication is valid.
Hope this helps, and thanks for reporting the problem.

Confirm: disabling all extensions help fix adding Google calendar account error:
Make sure to enter a valid email addressIf events aren't visible, check calendar settings "Sync Calendar" for each google calendar account.
Installed extensions:
- Google Docs Offline
- Checker Plus for Gmail
- Autoscroll
- Grammarly for Chrome
-
I can confirm that turning off extensions will help you solve the problem by logging in to Google Calendar. You can turn your extension back on after logging in.

For me, disabling the extensions did not help at all. IĀ even tried to restart the browser but it changed nothing.
-
@felagund That's weird, it works for me
-
BTW this still seems to affect me even when I disable the extensions. (IĀ also use a Chrome app and mail and other calendars, could that be the problem?)
@eggert Has this regression been fixed or is my problem a different one?
-
@felagund Yes, this regression was fixed a few days after discovery so if you have updated the browser since it is not the cause of your problems.
Do you have the same issue as the OP, trying to set up a gmail account and getting an error saying the email is not valid?
-
Yes, eactly the same messge. I now tried to do it with a snapshot with
a clean profile and that can add a Google account. Any tips how I can reset just the calendar part of my profile? (Maybe there are some remnants of the Google account that might be lurking there). -
@felagund Try deleting Google cookies from settings and see if it helps.
-
No, that has not changed anything., unfortunately :-(.
-
@felagund You can clear out all calendar data from your profile by deleting the database file. It is named "Calendar" (no extension) and is in the root of the profile folder which you can locate from vivaldi://about/
-
Hm, that has not helped. I tried playing with the copy of my profile and removing the Mail directory helps. When I remove it, I can add a calendar.
Is it safe to remove it? It has about 17GB, I assume it stores my mail, but those are backed up on the server.
I wonder if it has something to do with another bug I am afflicted by:
VB-82916: Prefetching reports error and no new mails are received
Update: hm, IĀ guess I was mistaken, removing Mail was not enough.

Ok, so I bisected my profile folder and the problem was the Preferences file. I edited it and I deleted:
"calendar": { "default_calendar_id": "4", "display": { "density": 0 }, "display_mode": 3, "last_notification_time": 1.644887449303E12, "mail_account": "[email protected]", "onboarding_shown": true, "panel_display_mode": 1, "refresh_tokens": { "REDACTED": "djExYqSU26REDACTEDREDACTEDREDACTEDREDACTEDREDACTEDREDACTEDREDACTEDREDACTEDREDACTEDREDACTEDREDACTEDREDACTEDREDACTEDREDACTEDREDACTEDZljsjrnZCxBGA==",
"https://calendar.google.com:443,*": { "expiration": "0", "last_modified": "13296042011761447", "model": 0, "setting": { "lastEngagementTime": 1.3295992447063596E16, "lastShortcutLaunchTime": 0, "pointsAddedToday": 3.6, "rawScore": 17.16844243058342 } },
Now it works.
I think it was the first item IĀ deleted. I am not sure what it means - probably some remnant of a my past calendar (I had an account and then deleated it, because the CPU usage was high, then I added it and it stopped working I think due to the bug mentioned above or something like that - I for sure deleted my account and added it at least twice).
