DNS lookup for local domain
-
I have a local DNS for my LAN "mydomain.home". Whenever I type "myhost.mydomain.home" in the address field, Vivaldi does a search instead of DNS lookup. Is it possible to configure this?
Thanks for a great product!

@pmosthus Yes, configure your lokal DNS server for the subdomain and set the correct search order for name resolution in your OS.

@doctorg lookup works fine in terminal, i.e.
nslookup myhost.mydomain.home
ssh myhost.mydomain.home
Etc
The local DNS is provided via DHCP and is the only server provided. -
@pmosthus Vivaldi works with the DNS server propagated by DHCP.
I use a Fritz!Box router for DNS and DHCP and all my devices and PCs run with hostnames like device1.fritz.box or office.fritz.box or nas.fritz.box etc.
I can connect to these decices by their hostname. No search. What have you set with Vivaldi Settings → Privacy → Google Services.

@doctorg I had Phishing and malware protection enabled, but did not help to disable it.
Lookup works if I type "http://myhost.mydomain.home" but without http it goes to search.
It also works if I disable search in address bar. -
@pmosthus Weird. I do not know what could get wrong on your side.
Which search do you use and which with search shortcut?
Had you tested with a fresh test profile (add by Manage Users icon, near search field, and do not make any settings in Welcome page) to reduce impact of any settings or extensions?

I use DuckDuckGo with the "d" keyword.
Tried with a fresh person, but did not help..Also, I tried in a different browser and see the same issue, so it's not only a Vivaldi problem... Guess I have to debug my DNS server afterall.
Thanks for your help @DoctorG !

Yes, please do so.
You can trace DNS with tool dig on Linux. -
